⤞karmic retribution

Hope exists
in a cacophony of
broken breaths,
new buds emerging
from a myriad of tiny deaths,
and what existed then
is no longer now,
and like karmic retribution,
fate will never allow
what isn't meant for me
to allow my heart
to be mislaid,
for I'm still fielding
the repercussions
from the last mistake I made,
and like entwined roots,
I'll wait for something that will last
to emerge from the wreckage,
and lay rest to my
sorrowful past.
