You're no longer my future,
you're just a story
I left behind,
a scatter of loose-leaf pages
that contain a lie between
every line;
and where I once
perused you closely,
I now leave you tucked away
on a dusty shelf,
an age-old reminder
of how I can so easily
let down myself;
but you taught me a lesson,
that even a fairytale
can seem so real,
yet some myths aren't meant
to be written,
and only in the ending
can we truly heal.
