SAM TAHEY

The boards rattle like dominoes as Bobby slams me back against them. Large smiles covering our faces as laughter fills the rink. Once he steps back removing the weight of his body off me, he grabs my hand helping me from horizontal on the ice to vertical. Looking over to the center circle I see the boys laughing to themselves, Seany deciding to roll around on the ice as he struggles for breath.

Now you're probably wondering how I got myself in this situation. Well, there is no training today so a group of us decided to have some fun on the ice instead and then go out for a meal. Brody not included as she wanted to scuba train today, so she doesn't fall behind. Tim, Seany, Stewie, Bobby, and Callum are here. Its nice to have a boy's day after a long period of training and team events.

Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with my angel, but she needs some space to accept the new changes in her life. I don't want to suffocate her, knowing that it's the worst thing to do.

"Come on lad, you're paying for food", Bobby slaps me on the shoulder bringing me out of my thoughts. I can't help but be worried about Brody, she's losing her motivation. She's slower in training, her hits are weak, its like she's given up.

Looking up I find myself outside the locker room, having zoned out again on the way back. A solemn look coats my face as I walk through the threshold, the others already in their cubbies chatting. Tim's eyes meet my own, his face indicating that he already knows what's wrong. All the boys are worried about her, though I worry the most. They don't see the way she is at home, eating less, not communicating. Why does it always seem as if she's on a downhill spiral?

"Hey!", Tim's voice brings me to lift my head once again and meet his eyes. "She'll be ok, she just needs a little inspiration", everyone's eyes are now on me again, but this time they're not laughing.

Defeat overcomes me as I try to find a way to inspire her, my shoulders drop, and the pit in my stomach tightens. "How? Cause I've got nothing, nada, absolute zero. How are we supposed to inspire her when she seems to constantly just be getting worse and worse?". The boys look to me in sympathy, seeing how much it breaks me to see my angel lose her wings.

"We don't", Tim's statement makes my eyebrows raise, so far up I think they might get stuck there. What does he mean we don't? This is our family; we fight for every single one of us.

"Wait a second, before you get ahead of yourself overthinking", Wallace's accusing finger jabs in my direction. I stand confused and wobbly on my skates as anxiety and worry make my legs shake slightly.

Wallace tells me to "sit down" as he stands to speak to the room of the inner circle. "First, we have an event coming up where we will meet a very inspiring woman, and second, we have a new team member joining soon. I am sure they will give her the push she needs, because sometimes we can't help. Especially if she doesn't let us"
