She might want a kiss by the end of this song. Because love can burn like a cigarette and leave you with nothing.

-TV Girl

It had been a very awkward yet entertaining few weeks after the dance.

Hunter was so entirely oblivious, as he did not pick up on social cues. And poor, poor Edric. He too was entirely oblivious to the other's certainly horrid flirting abilities. But not in the "Oh, they like me?" kind of way but closer to "I was so busy being in love I did not realize they returned feelings."

And with that said, the pair sat in awkward confusion and bumbling anguish.

Their fingers would ever so slightly brush up against each other and both boys turned away in flustered and shy contentment.

It had gotten so bad that even Amity would side-eye them, even after she was just unable to function for the last ten minutes since Luz hugged her.

It was disgusting to see her older brother fall in love and the other boy to like him back, yet neither made any real move.

So she decided to team up with Luz (a hopeless romantic) to create the perfect environment for a romance to blossom.

A note was taped onto the cabin door when Hunter returned for something. He curiously looked around, with no clue who it could possibly come from. He opened it up.

"Hunter-
Meet me at the dock. Midnight tonight. Bring no one.
- ♡?"

He laughed and put it in his pocket. However silly the possibility of Hunter having a secret admirer is, he couldn't help but ponder who sent it. So, he decided right then and there to go, even if it wasn't Edric.

Edric was helping a kid into a canoe before sending them off when his phone buzzed. He gently lifted up his cap and looked at the notification.

"E. B-
I really like you. Meet me at the dock at midnight for a surprise ^_^

-♡?"

He scoffed but didn't reply at first. As the afternoon continued, he continued to think about it. And then he made up his mind. How bad would it really hurt if he at least saw who it was, no matter if it wasn't a certain blonde.

(TIMESKIP TO RELATIVELY LATE)

Luz and Amity were already in a bush waiting for the two to show up. Amity looked around her surroundings.

This was crazy. Amity Blight, the most prestigious student at Hexside sitting in a bush with an outcast kid waiting to get her brother and soon-to-be boyfriend to confess. But she didn't care.

She loved the new experiences and everything Luz brought along with it.  Maybe she wasn't mean to be perfect, but instead just be hers...

Her incredibly deep thoughts were interrupted by Edric clumsily falling out of a near-by brush. He looked around quickly, checking to see if the mysterious texter had shown.

However, little did he know, Luz had texted him. That was the reason there was the little "^-^". She learned the shenanigan off a very popular Halmark Christmas movie she watched every winter with her mom.

Edric stood for a few minutes, kicked some dirt around and then went to go away. He went back to the bush, when his path was interrupted by Hunter in the way. Luz giggled quietly and pulled out her phone and began to record.

Edric took one final look around. He made a slightly disappointed noise that he was stood up by someone he didn't truly know. And with that, he turned to go.
