Y/N POV

I've known Jack for a while now since I met him when my family and I moved to Michigan so my brother, Trevor, could play for the USNTDP. Trevor quickly introduced me to his teammates, considering they were in most of my classes. However, Trevor knew I would've met them eventually, so he introduced them to me himself instead.

Jack and I quickly bonded over being the middle child in our families. Although Trevor is my twin, I'm still technically younger than him but older than our other two siblings. Therefore, I fall into the middle child category with my younger brother, Griffin. Jack and I quickly talked about how annoying it was to be one when we first met, and we've been best friends since.

However, recently, I've been feeling things toward him that I didn't before. It felt like there was a magnet dangling between us that made me always want to be with him. But, of course, things have changed as I got older, one of those being how I am utterly in love with my best friend.

Now, Jack sat next to me on a curb as we waited for a ride because we got stranded when my car broke down. It was cold, and I texted Trevor to pick us up after explaining what had happened. Unfortunately, he was half an hour away, but we had no other option. So, Jack and I waited in comfortable silence.

I looked over at Jack to see him looking at me with a small smile.

"What?" I asked, imitating his grin. This made him smirk more.

"Nothing. You're just really pretty," Jack whispered quietly.

I didn't know what came over me, but the next thing I knew, my lips were on his. My slightly chapped lips lingered against his soft ones before I quickly realized what I had done and pulled away.

"I'm so sorry! Oh my god—I shouldn't have done that! I'm so so sorry I—"

"Y/N—"

"If you don't even want to talk to me again, I get it—"

"Y/N—"

"I'm just so—"

Jack pulls me by my shirt and kisses me again. My eyes widened before I could process what was happening, and I finally kissed him back. I melted into his touch as his warmth kept me warm in this cold Michigan autumn air. We pulled away and laughed, not needing to say anything because we both knew what the other would say.
