Y/N's POV

The next day in school I bring something with me that normally I wouldn't bring. It's a volume of a new shoujo manga that I started recently.

The story is so captivating that I want to keep on reading. I even read in class. Ore monogatari ─ that is the name of the manga. The male lead Takeo is a incredibly sweet guy even if he seems like a mean, scary looking man in his 40's.

He treats the girl he likes with so much kindness. I wish someone would love me like the male lead in these shoujos loves the female lead.

Man... I truly envy those female leads like Kuronuma Sawako, Yona and Koizumi Risa. I wish someone would see me the way their love interests see them. Or atleast that someone doesn't see me as a burden... and maybe...

Just maybe enjoys spending time with me. I know it's foolish but this alone would make me so happy...

"Hey Aomine-san... watcha reading?", I suddenly hear Matsuno-san's voice. I turn my head in his direction. "Huh?"

How embarrassing... I didn't quite catch what he said!

"Is that ore monogatari?" Confused as to why a guy like him knows the name of this manga, I look at him and blink multiple times before answering his question with a simple, "yes."

"I love ore monogatari." "You do?", I ask surprised and we talk the whole break about it. We even recommend each other different shoujo mangas.

I can't believe that Matsuno-san likes reading those mangas. In that moment I felt like we were like friends. Yeah... that would be nice. If we could be friends.

The thought of having a friend, talking with him about everything and just enjoy my youth with him, makes me smile. All of a sudden I see his intense gaze on me when I raise my head.

I was afraid I did something wrong and was ready to apologize for whatever I did. The boy across from me supports his head on his hands and smiles gently.

"D-Do I have something on my face?", I ask anxiously. "No no... everything's fine. It's just... that's the first time I see you being this happy and not tense like you're usually are." He's right... Dammit. I─ "You should smile more."

"E-Ex-Excuse me... I'm buying something from the vending machine." I want to go asap so Chifuyu can't see my flustered face. "Let me accompany you." "It's fine... You d-don't need to stand up, I'll be back in a sec." "Hmm... okay."

I run out of the class. Why is it so hot? I need something to cool down. From the vending machine I get two strawberry milk's. One for me and the other for Matsuno-san.

On the way to class I collide with some boys from our class. I panicly apologize to the three of them but one of them grabs me by the collar. "Who in the actual fuck are ya tryna fool, bitch?! That was on purpose for sure."

I get afraid when the boy raises his fist to beat me up. Please someone... help! "MATSUNO-SAN!", I instinctively cry out loud.

At the right time, Matsuno-san appears, stopping the boy's fist, pushing the three away from me and pulling me towards him.

"She already apologized... don't cha think that's enough, ya bastards?! Come on Aomine-san, let's get the hell outta here." "O-Okay..."

Matsuno-san grabs my wrist and pulls me away from there. "Are you okay, Aomine-san?", he asks and looks at me with a worried facial expression. That's something I thought I would never experience but it did. And it feels nice to know that someone cares for you.

Even a little bit.

"Y-Yeah... you came just in time. I thank you. I also got you some strawberry milk. H-Here." "Oh thanks... but why though? You don't have to buy something for me." "I know... I uhm... wanted to thank you for recommending ore monogatari to me."

I nervously give him the small paket with the strawberry milk inside. He accepts it with a grin on his face and drinks it. "No problem... tell me if you need help. We're friends now and friends always help each other out."

Friends...? Me and him...?
