There's something soothing
About breaking the rules
And making your own guidelines
About doing something wrong
On purpose
And while there might not be any point
To doing it wrong
It feels good
Doing it differently
Being separate from everything
You've ever learned
Being adjacent to what
They all consider success
There's something soothing
About breaking the rules
Meant to govern
The mindless sheep
They know we are
I don't think there's a better way
To feel something other than apathetic
Than to do something wrong
To be angry or sad
Or to make someone upset
And it's a calming sensation
That feels like soft rain on the skin
To know that the end is imminent
But still unknown
Still far away
Or at least we hope that it stays
Far away as we stray
Closer and closer to the realization
We're not as smart
As we once thought we were
