Rain

The rain doesn't bow to a crown
Or submit to a throne
Or even care about society's judgment
It falls from the sky no matter what anyone commands
No matter what anyone deems as "good" or "well"
Maybe that's why I envy it
And find it calming
Because it doesn't have a care in the world
It enjoys keeping me in rather than going out
But it still loves to dance
The rain enjoys quiet nights
But it still loves to sing
It enjoys dull colors
But it still brings color to everything else
Confident and assertive
Gentle and soft
The rain, my beloved, is perfect
