Gillian's POV

I run the palm of my hands over the front of my tank top in order to smooth out the material. I watch as the elevator doors part to reveal Courtney's completely redone living room.

Her large television is currently playing the menu, the title of the movie being visible in big white letters. The lighting in the room has been dimmed exponentially. It is not so dark that you are unable to see, but it is dark enough that the television is the main light source.

The aroma of freshly popped popcorn enters my nostrils which forces me to scan the large room until they land on a small popcorn maker a few feet away from the television.

The coffee table seems to be missing entirely, instead being replaced by what seems to be duvet-covered cushions. Large fluffy pillows rest on top of these cushions, more specifically against the front of the couch.

Wow! Courtney really went all out.

"You made it!" I hear a cheerful voice say from the kitchen entrance.

I turn in the direction that I heard the voice come from only to spot Courtney carrying two glasses of hot cocoa in her hands, one glass in each hand.

My heart speeds up quicker and quicker in my chest the closer that she gets to me.

"No alcohol, just like you wanted." She says with a welcoming grin, holding one of the glasses out in my direction.

My heart swells at this.

She remembered.

"Thank you." I respond with an equally as large smile.

This is amazing! There's going to be zero alcohol in my system. That means that there is no possible way that Courtney and I will end up sleeping together. I can totally go the entire night without worrying about waking up the next morning in the blonde's bed with my bra all the way in the kitchen while my panties hang from the lamp in her bedroom.

"It's no problem at all." she assures me before walking over to the large mattress.

I quickly remove my shoes and leave them by the door before following after the blonde and joining her on the mattress.

She kindly waits until I am comfortable to press the 'play' button on her television remote.

"What movie did you get anyway?" I find myself asking.

I glance in Courtney's direction just in time to see her shrug her shoulders.

"I don't know, I just bought whatever seemed the most interesting."

"You don't think that that's kind of risky?"

"What do you mean?" Courtney asks, her eyes glued to the illuminated screen in front of us.

"I mean, what if there's a sex scene or something in it. Then what?"

"Well, since we're both sober, it's not like we'll act on those lustful urges." She says as if it's a fact.

'How do you know that for sure?' I so badly want to ask, but hold myself back from asking it.

"You're right." I find myself saying instead.

I will not sleep with my ex-girlfriend.

The woman slowly unbuttons the large shirt that she is wearing, more and more skin becoming visible. I feel my heart rate quickly pick up speed in my chest as the auburn-haired woman on the screen allows the now unbuttoned shirt to drop to the floor.
