[Third-Person POV]
Y/n doesn't have much respect for Splinter. Even if he is the one who "raised" her, and sheltered her. He lacked parental responsibility, leaving it up to Y/n and Raph to take care of their younger siblings.
By the time Raph and Y/n had reached the age of 15, they had accepted the fact that they would have to play the role of the parents. If Splinter wouldn't do his part, they would.
The most that the rat had done for Y/n was taught her archery and Ninjutsu. After he had eventually given up on her, she began training by herself, occasionally sparring with Raph.
While she loved being around her brothers, training by herself was always better for her. She enjoyed not being surrounded by the sounds of teenage boys and being able to fully pay attention to her own needs. Playing the role of her brothers' mother was overwhelming at times.
Over the years, Y/n's respect for Splinter continued to spiral downwards. She kept this knowledge tucked away safely from her brothers, to not make them upset. They loved their father deeply. And although she did an incredible job at hiding this, Raph knew. Y/n tells Raph everything, no matter what. And he supported her opinion. He understood why she would feel such a way towards the rat. His lazy attributes affected all the turtles greatly.
Raph and Y/n's roles as mom and dad became increasingly more important and helped their siblings more and more. It got to the point where Mikey would start calling them "Mom" and "Dad" occasionally. While Raph knew it was an accident and thought it was cute but didn't think about it much, seemingly pushing these occurrences aside, Y/n would think about these times regularly. She would catch herself thinking about it while eating with her brothers, or late at night whilst trying to fall asleep.
This was one of those nights.
It was the night before Father's Day.
Y/n lay comfortably on her shell, staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars scattered across her bedroom ceiling. She would count them each night. It became sort of a habit. Each night, she would lie down on her shell and count all 72 stars before going to sleep. Some nights, when it was extra hard to fall asleep, she would count all of them twice. Those nights she would count 144 of them. The stars were a gift from Mikey. He gave them to her on her 12th birthday. There were 12 in the package. He thought it was fitting since it was her 12th birthday. Y/n received 2 packs of the stars each birthday after that one, leaving her with 72.
Back to Father's Day, though...
Y/n didn't understand why she and her brother's still celebrated Father's Day. It made no sense. He had done nothing but neglect them. He would have them do numerous tasks for him that would be easy for anyone to do. And on top of that, he would treat love and affection as a reward that his children needed to earn, rather than something every father should do regardless of if the child "earned it" or not. It was just ridiculous.
Of course, Y/n could see why they would still celebrate the holiday. Splinter was their father, the one who took them in after Baron Draxum attempted to turn them into government-level weapons. Splinter brought them with him into the sewers. He declared himself their father. But he grew to ignore them.
