Breaking off from each other proudly grinning, he had kissed you! Three times in fact, and you knew you'd kiss him again. "Please, tell me you only do that with me." He was giving you that cheeky smirk, and you tried holding back a mocking grin. You gave him a slash to his face letting giggles run. "Hey!" You quickly felt water splash back on you and the giggles kept coming. "Wait! Ah!" You could barely speak between giggles and splashes of water going in both directions. Seeing no way the splashing would end unless one of you gave in, which you wouldn't. You ducked underwater and maneuvered close to him again. He looked confused as to what you were doing but he was still grinning. "Yes?" You loved following the patterns of his spots. "Sooooo, are we like dating now?" Your smile tightened as you nervously peeked a glance at him.

"What's dating?" The realization dawned. "Oh... Uhhh." How to explain this to him? "It's uh- well... when two people like each other." You went the way most parents do when a child asks about where babies come from. You hoped you wouldn't have to continue because this was not that talk. But as Neteyam scratched his cranium you knew he was still lost. "They start to see each other and go on things like, I don't know dates... and stuff." Feeling awkward for absolutely no reason you watched as he must've connected the dots to something. "Oh, so it's like courting." Your brows furrowed, you had obviously heard the term on Earth but you had picked up that the Na'vi sometimes are more strict with their ways. "I guess, what does courting insinuate?"

His eyes had a sparkle that had distracted you from the purple creeping onto his face. "It would mean," Neteyam took hold of your hand. "That we would be promised to each other." You had plenty more questions but maybe you should ask Mr. Sully, after all, he was human once. But, how would you bring it up without bringing up alarm? Would he even be okay with you courting his son? What about Neytiri? She liked you enough sure, maybe enjoyed your company but this was her firstborn son, her pride and joy. "(Y/N)?" You hadn't zoned out like that for some time in front of Neteyam. "Hmm?" His face had changed, less confident and more nervous. "I'm sorry," Neteyam was shaking his head and you could see him start to retreat back. "I should've known better, courting is serious and you aren't even fully accustomed to our life." He had let go of your hand and backed away to the Ilus who had stayed. But he didn't get far before you pulled yourself forward with his shoulder as support. "What?" You were starting to understand how weighty the word courting felt to him. "Neteyam, hey, I would love to court you or however this goes." You might not be fully understanding of Na'vi culture yet and you still had more to learn, clearly, but you weren't going to let that stop you.

"Are you sure? This isn't something to be taken lightly." You cupped his face. "Yeah, I've made up my mind." You kissed his forehead and hoped on the ilu behind you and connected your Kuru. "Now, come up here! We are missing the rest of the celebration!" You dragged your hand down and extended it for Neteyam to take. "Okay, I'm coming."When he mounted the ilu and nested close you set off. This time if another partner dance was upcoming you would ask him to dance. That would give no chance for anyone else who wanted to ask you. You honestly loved dancing but you found you only did because of the adrenaline rush of it. That and it was one of the few things you had picked up quickly. Being reminded of activities you had picked up quickly, the armband you had for neteyam flashed in your mind. It had been finished for a while and you had already given his siblings their gifts.

Turning slightly you veered for the family Marui, hoping Mr. Sully and Neytiri had set off for the celebration. When you dipped out of the water catching air while slowing your pace as you were close to the walkway. "Just wait here." You snaked your way out of his grasp and onto the walkway miraculously without falling into the water. When you opened the entryway it was dark with only a few specks of light shining. Great mother, you loved nighttime. Rushing to grab the band and return to the celebration you only took in the sights for a moment before taking what you needed and leaving. You held it behind you just as Tuk had when she had gifted you your knife. The knife he made for you. You loved your knife and you hoped Neteyam would love the armband.
