Dolores Marina Solovyova prided herself on going unnoticed in life. Sure, the Solovyova's, aka the Nightingale family, were well known Grisha in Ravka; corporalki blood ran through their veins. But Dolores managed to slip through the cracks of others underestimation of her character, pleased with the knowledge that her brother would always draw the attention away. Just as she liked it.
However, her brother cannot marry Prince Vasily (although she would've loved to see it). So that was Dolores's job. Finally had a chance to 'pull her weight' in the perfect family and marry royalty, as her delightful mother told her. Then she was no longer unnoticed, rather she was scrutinised every turn. Not even Genya could tailor her to avoid the judgement.
Running away was the plan. Finding herself in the clutches of a pirate, sorry, privateer, was not. Saints if Dolores knew she was in the presence of her nightmare's brother, she would've run the other way, again. But even she couldn't tell after his 'adjustments'.
Dolores, the woman of sorrows, she ran. She was afraid. But Marina, the woman of the sea, she stayed. Stood in the face of fear. She remained alongside Sturmhond, right until the end. Unfortunately, that lead her right back into the arms of Prince Vasily. Right back where she started.

- she has always been a soft-spoken and shy girl
- she doesn't fit into her family who are all assertive and drawn to the public eye
- she feels her family are more powerful than her but she never tried to progress her powers
𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭
- her family set up an arranged marriage with the royal family to progress their name and bloodline and make Dolores marry Prince Vasily
- he made unwanted advances and made her very uncomfortable, and along with everyone judging her every turn, she couldn't take it
- she makes Genya tailor her so she can sneak out, and takes her middle name Marina and hides her grisha abilities
- she ran away but has no street smarts and ends up running into Sturmhond who offers her a place on his ship
-the two have met when they were younger and have history but didn't recognise each other. at times things they do are familiar but can't quite pick it
- they fall for each other and both feel betrayed when finding out they lied to each other
- tolya and tamar cannot use their powers against her at all but cannot understand why
- dolores bonds with mal when nikolai and alina discuss faking a marriage
- returning to ravka the king tries to pin her for being a traitor and after nikolai backs her up, the king decides she has to marry vasily otherwise she will be called a traitor
- she goes ahead with the marriage with no other option and is subjected again to Prince Vasily's unwanted advances but has nothing to do about it but accept it
