After the end of our date, Jonathan asked me to be his girlfriend and I happily accepted. It's been about a week, and it's going well but the one problem is Jess. It's getting harder and harder to avoid him, and my feelings for him aren't gone. It's not like I don't like Jonathan, but it feels like a silly little crush compared to what I feel for Jess. Jonathan and I are at his house watching a movie, our hands are entwined and my head is on his shoulder as we lay on his couch. I let out a small yawn, which he notices
"Do you wanna sleep?" He asked
"I think I'll just head home after we finish the movie, I don't want Lorelai to worry," I said
"I can take you home now, it's okay," He sounded a bit disappointed, but I was too tired to notice. Suddenly my pager went off, I looked to see who it was. Rory of course.
"Can you drop me off at the Diner?" I asked, and he nodded.

I walked into the Diner and spotted Rory sitting at the usual table.
"What's up?" I asked her, she sighed
"Did you know-" She started to speak but I didn't hear her. I was distracted when I saw Jonathan walking down the street with a girl, they were close. I let myself dive deep into thoughts about the worst outcomes before I shook myself out of it. What was I saying? it's probably a family member visiting or something. Jonathan spotted me and grew noticeably stiff as his pace quickened, I frowned "Hello? Earth to Y/N," Rory spoke
"Sorry Ro, what were you saying?" I asked her, and she too, frowned when she saw what I had been looking at.
"I'll tell you later, let's head home," She smiled as she stood up and grabbed her bookbag.

I was sitting and reading on the couch when the phone rang. I got up and answered it
"Gilmore house, how may I help you?" I spoke on the phone
"Hey, babe," Jonathan spoke, quitting down as he spoke the word "babe" as if it could summon an evil spirit of sorts.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked as I traveled back over to the couch
"I uh, I've gotta cancel our date tomorrow, my cousin-" I heard a confused voice in the background interrupt him before he spoke again "Sorry, anyways, my cousin came to visit unexpectedly, and I told her I would give her a tour of the town tomorrow," I tensed up at the mention of a female pronoun. I was about to argue but decided I didn't have to energy to do so.
"It's okay, we can just plan another-" I was interrupted by a muffled voice calling his name
"Jonathan! How much longer are you going to talk to your cousin!" The voice spoke, I frowned, Cousin? No, I probably just heard wrong. "we uh, we can just-" There was some shuffling before he interrupted me.
"I've gotta go, bye," He hung up the phone
"And I've gotta talk to you later," I mumbled as I set down the phone, "Asshole," I said as I opened my book back up,
"Who's an asshole?" Rory asked as she came inside,
"Nobody, no one, it's nothing don't worry," I spoke, she knew I was lying but had decided to leave it alone.
"So, I was thinking, tomorrow, you and me-" I drifted into thought, Jonathan had been a real asshole lately... "Sound good?" She asked,
"What, oh, yeah, perfect," I smiled, she frowned before she pushed me to my room
"Get some sleep before you agree to plans, you could've just agreed to kill yourself with me and you would have no idea," She said
"Would that really be so bad?" I shrugged, and she rolled her eyes before leaving and shutting the door behind her.

'

unfortunately, I had not agreed to kill myself. instead, I agreed to go to the movies with Rory. We were sitting in the second to last row, and in the third to the front row, I could see Jonathan and his cousin. His cousin seemed to have fallen asleep on his shoulder though...  I honestly didn't even watch the movie, my eyes were burned into the back of Jonathan's head the whole time. Something didn't feel right about his cousin. After the movie had ended, Rory and I were refilling our drinks at the concession stand when I spotted Jonathan, I told Rory I would be right back before I walked over to him and his... cousin.
"Hey, Jonathan, can we talk?" I asked him, he appeared to be nervous.
"O-oh, uh, not right now..." I looked at his cousin and gave her a small, fake, smile.
"You must be Y/N," She spoke, my off feeling about her eased as she put out her hand for me to shake, he wouldn't have told her my name if he was cheating on me, right?
"Yep, that's me." I shook her hand. I saw Jonathan sweating, "You okay Jonathan?" I asked, he nodded
"I'm gonna go get some water..." He spoke as he walked away, I turned to his cousin
"I don't think he told me your name," I said, she smiled
"Amelia," She said "I'm glad you live here, it's nice for him to have a family member in a new town that he doesn't know all that well," She said
"Family?" I asked, she frowned
"Yeah, you're his cousin," She explained as if I was dumb
"I thought- he told me you're his cousin," I said,
"No, I'm his girlfriend," She said assertively, I scoffed,
"No, I'm his girlfriend," I said, we now both had frowns on our faces as we connected the dots, Jonathan soon came back and we both started shouting at him. the night ended with Amelia coming home with me, she would take the bus back to the airport tomorrow, but as of right now, instead of two girlfriends, Jonathan had none.
