"I'm sorry," He mumbled

"What?"

"I said I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt your goddamn feelings. I was avoiding you because I got scared!" He shouted, I scoffed

"What could you possibly be scared of?!"

"I got scared that you would leave me! I fell asleep with you in my arms, and oh my god, I wanted to hold you so tight, but I got fucking scared so I left! Goddamnit Y/N is that so hard to understand?!" His voice cracked, he was about to cry, tough-guy Jess Mariano was about to cry.
"What the hell do you mean?!" I shouted. A tear fell from his eye as he took a deep frustrated breath. It hurt me to see him cry.

"Y/N M/N L/N. Third Gilmore. The girl who showed up at my door was drenched in tears. The girl who fell asleep peacefully in my arms. The girl who I so selfishly left. I want to hold you tight and never let go, I want to be the shoulder you can cry on, I want you to trust me, and I want you to fall asleep in my arms again. You don't have to like me, you can hate me, you can yell at me, you can punch me in the face as soon as I'm done talking, I just want you to know this. I like you, I like you a lot, more than you know. I'm sorry I hurt you, I didn't mean to. " He said, my upset and frustrated expression changed into a confused yet happy one.

"I like you too, Jess," I spoke. A smile formed on his face as he moved a strand of hair from my face. He caressed my cheek as he looked at me with an expression that I had only seen once before when he was sleeping. Calm, happy, peaceful.

His eyes explored my face before they fell upon my lips and we both leaned in slowly, our faces mere centimeters apart, I could feel his breathing as his calloused yet soft hand traveled down to my waist, the other still holding my face gently. He closed the gap as his lips crashed onto mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck as I leaned into the kiss. It felt like fireworks were going off inside of me, it was the best feeling I had ever felt in my whole life. We pulled out of the kiss and smiled the biggest smiles we had probably smiled in our whole life.

"Be my girlfriend?" He asked

"Of course," I smiled. He gave me another small kiss before a thought went through my head. "Jess, wait, how are we gonna do this?" I asked. He frowned

"Do what?"

"This, you and me. You live in new york now, and I'm still in stars hollow," I shared my thought,

"I'll go back," I frowned "I hate it here anyways, I only came because I got in a fight with luke and now I don't want to go back because he'll give me a lecture on why I'm just so stubborn even though he's the one that-"

"Jess,"

"Sorry, but really, I'll go back,"

"You know, I remember when you first came to stars hollow, you said you would leave the first chance you got, and would never come back, what happened to that?" I wondered, he looked at me longingly

"You happened," he spoke as he gave me another kiss, I then looked down at my watch,

"it's 8:00 already..." I mumbled, just then my pager went off, it was Lorelai. I reached into my pocket to grab my phone but it was dead "Can I borrow your phone?" I asked Jess, he nodded as he reached into his pocket and handed me his phone. after a few rings, Lorelai picked up

"Lorelai Gilmore, how may I help you?" She spoke

"hey it's me-"

"Oh my god! Where are you, do you have any idea what time it is?" She started.

"I'm in new york, and yes I know what time it is."

"Why in the name of Luke are you in New York?" She asked, she was starting to sound upset

"I came to get Rory a gift, I didn't think I would be out this late," I explained, she let out a frustrated sigh.

"It's late to take the bus home, do you- do you think you could find a hotel or something? preferably one that isn't full of drunk middle-aged men who are gonna hit on you?" She asked

"You could stay at my place," Jess, who seemed to have been listening to my conversation, recommended.

"You sure your mom is okay with it?" I spoke as I covered the speaker of the phone, I could hear Lorelai frantically asking questions about who I was talking to and why the speaker was covered.

"I don't think she's home, she's been out the last two days," he said

"Thanks," I smiled before uncovering the speaker

"Who were you talking to and why was I covered!?" Lorelai asked

"Uh- No-one," I lied. She didn't believe me, so she squeezed the answer out of me. "Fine, it's Jess," I let out.

"You and I are gonna have to talk when you get home, just stay safe, and don't have sex with him," She said, I cringed as she hung up the phone

"Let's go," I said to Jess as I took his hand in mine
