Chapter 1.16 - Big Enough for Two

(Guys help, the way my mind went straight to the gutter when I wrote this chapters title😭💀)

Jess had given me some of his clothes to change into, considering that my jeans and crop top would not be comfortable to sleep in. As I stepped out of the bathroom I saw him sitting on the couch reading a book. I sat next to him and he put his arm around me and gave me a kiss on the forehead. 

"Whatcha reading?" I asked him 

"Play it as it lays, only interesting book I found on my mom's bookshelf," He said, he was only in the beginning of the book, he seemed to have started the book only yesterday.

"Read it to me," I smiled

"From the beginning?" He asked, I shook my head

"Wherever you are now," I spoke

"Maria stood up and grabbed a beach towel from the deck and ran into the house with the towel clutched in her mouth, and a few minutes later when, pale under her sunburn and covered with cold sweat, she stopped the dry heaves and pulled off her bathing suit and saw that for the fifty-first day, she was not bleeding," He read, I hadn't paid much attention to the words, but more the sound of his voice that I had missed so much. After finishing a chapter or two, he stopped reading and looked at me. 

"Y'know, I almost didn't come here today," I said

"What do you mean?" He asked

"I almost didn't come to buy Rory her gift, I was gonna come tomorrow but thought it might get sold if I came tomorrow,"

"Well, I'm glad you came today," He said as he kissed me. Our lips moved with each other like it was destiny for us to be here right now. He set down the book on the coffee table without breaking the kiss as it grew more passionate. He caressed my cheek with one hand as the other traveled down to my waist. He left a trail of kisses as his lips traveled down to my jawline. He traveled down to my neck and I soon became more self-aware 

"J-Jess," I spoke as he left kisses on my neck "Jess, wait," I spoke, "Jess," I said sternly, he stopped as he looked at me and apologized

"No, it's okay, just, no farther than that, okay?" He nodded and gave me one last kiss on the cheek "I quite enjoyed it actually," I said, he raised his eyebrows as he smirked and I giggled before I yawned, only then realizing how tired I had been. "Can we go to sleep?" I asked

"Of course, I'll take the couch, you can sleep on my bed"

"Isn't it big enough for two?" I smirked as I rubbed my eyes.

"You're tired, you don't know what you're saying," He spoke, I narrowed my eyes at him

"Come on, I'm not that tired," I said as I yawned, he let out a small laugh before he gave in

I woke up to find myself in Jess's arms, five more minutes? It's different this time, I'll wake up and he'll still be here. I wrapped my arms around his torso and set my head on his chest as I listened to his heartbeat, it was calm and serene, like a lullaby as I fell back into slumber. I woke up later to find myself still in the same bed, and still in his arms. He was reading a book and seemed to have not budged since the last time I woke up.

"How long have you been up?" I asked him

"Well, Good morning to you too, sleepyhead." He spoke, I raised my eyebrows at him, wanting an answer, "Like 30 minutes. I didn't want to wake you, you looked so peaceful, like a little baby," He said, I rolled my eyes as I smiled. 

"I should get home, if Lorelai's gonna murder me I just wanna get it over with," I said as I got out of bed. 

"At least stay for breakfast," he asked

"Depends on what breakfast is," I said

"I'll take you out to the best breakfast in new york. My treat, and an apology for the last two and a half months," He said. I smiled

"That doesn't sound so bad."
