Wind in our sails

"So what do you think about that Kiri girl?"

Ronal asked from across the table, she was preparing food for lunch. Since Tsireya was out with Lo'ak, it was just me and her today

"I dunno, why do you ask?"

I said stirring my tea, Ronal kept on cutting some vegetables piece by piece with a hunting knife

"I'm just curious.. about the girl. She seems special"

Ronal told me, now she slid off the excess food from the knife unto the bowl full of cut up vegetables

"Maybe she is"

I said back, I knew exactly what she meant. In the movie Kiri had some special connection with Eywa through all nature and creatures. She most definitely already noticed it by now

That means it won't take long before the humans arrive to help Kiri- thus Neteyams tragedy

"She reminds me of you.. in a way"

She explained, I was baffled. Me and Kiri? Similar? Not a chance

"How exactly?"

I ask

"I'd say it's the way Eywa speaks with you, not many get lucky enough for our mother to even answer prayers. I'm not to informed about the girl but she seems to be connected in a way"

She continues finishing the cut up veggies as she began to clean the knife

"So you are saying.. Eywa favors us?"

I ask, she should know this, she's the Tsahik after all. She raises an eyebrow to Herself, it was silent for a moment- then she spoke

"I guess so"

She simply says, continuing her cleaning

"Guess so? Shouldn't you know this? Aren't you also anointed to Eywa as well?"

I say to her, she looks back at me and sighs as she puts her knife down for a more serious approach

"The Tsahik is connected to Eywa, we interpret her will. When it happens to others that aren't meant to be Tsahik- it likely means you have a big role to fill"

Could she be referring to my role? My place in this world? The sole reason why I was transported here miraculously

"Take Toruk Macto's story for example, I know to little so you should probably ask Neytiri for the full story but he was specially chosen by our mother, just like you and Kiri are somehow"

A moment of clarity sparked in me, this makes it all the more easier. Why didn't I think of it before, I finally have a solution after so much thought

If what Ronal says about me and Kiri is true, I could be capable of healing, maybe using a Tsahik type of power

I can save Neteyam

Eywa can save Neteyam, through Kiri, through me.

Ronal gets up from the table, with the bowl of veggies in hand. As soon as she leaves the room, so do I

I'm eager for answers, I need to find Kiri

I headed out of the marui pod and went out to find Kiri, question is, where is she at?

I walked along the shore searching for Kiri, she had to be somewhere around here. I already checked her Pod which none of the sullys were there anyways. She could most likely be out somewhere deep in the reef

"Hey Naya!"

I hear Lo'ak call out to me as he begins to approach me

"Hey Lo'ak! What Tsireya make you do this time?"

I asked expecting for some ridiculous lesson on how to swim

"She taught me sign language, I think I got most of it covered now"

He says proudly, showing me simple gestures on greetings and basic questions

"Really? Do you understand this?"

I say gesturing a conversation in sign quickly, Lo'ak tried to focus and interpret what I was saying but his face told me he didn't get a single thing

"Could you do that again but slower?"

He asked making both of us laugh, then my eyes fell on a familiar group of teenagers close to the water

"What's going on there?"

I say as Lo'ak turned his head in the direction I was looking at and he squinted as he tried to make clear what was happening. Then his eyes shot wide and he became furious

"They've really done it this time"

He said angrily before heading in the direction of the group, i quickly followed behind him, I knew what was about to go down and I wished I could get out of this situation, at least I know where Kiri is

As we neared, I could see Kiri in the midst of Aonungs group of friends. My disappointment grew bigger as I hurried to walk up next to him. The boys tried to get a hold of Kiris hands while making fun of her

"Hey!"

Lo'ak called as he neared the group, I stood behind him not knowing what to do. The boys and Kiri looked back at him as he approached.

"Back off fish lips"

He said as he stepped into the shallow waters, they watched as Lo'ak approached and walked up right to Aonung, he held his shoulders and pushed him further to keep distance

"Oh another four fingered freak!"

Aonungs said making the rest of the boys laugh

"Look at his baby tail"

One of them said laughing as he reached over to hold his tail. I couldn't stand what was going on so I stepped in. Aonung seemed shocked by the look I was giving him as his grip on Lo'aks tail slackened

Lo'ak pushed the boy holding his tail, he let go still snickering

"Don't touch me!"

He turned and pushed Aonung as well. I grimaced as I hurried past them to get to Kiri

"Hey are you alright?"

I asked her placing my hand on her shoulder

"Yeah, thanks"

Kiri said barely smiling, I nodded before turning around to look back at the group

"Leave us alone!"

Kiri yelled as she watched Lo'ak be surrounded by the group of boys, they continued on laughing and mocking him pushing and shoving when he got closer

From the corner of my eye, I could see Neteyam approaching

Neteyam walked up to them and I had to admit that he looked intimidating and his eyes looked furious as well.

Then he came to a stop behind Aonung before pushing him away from Lo'ak

Aonung was no longer laughing when he met Neteyams eyes. There was no humor behind them

"You heard what she said"

Neteyam said harshly, pointing a finger to Aonungs chest

"Ah- Big brother coming-"

Kamun started to say, but he was silenced by Aonung holding his hand

"Back off"

Neteyam said loud and clear

"Now"

Aonung looked at Neteyam before holding up his hands in defense sarcastically— it irked me when he did that

"Smart choice"

Neteyam said

"And from now on I need you to respect my sister"

He said as one of the boys snarled at him, but Aonung pushed him back.
