We spent the next two weeks investigating the attack. How many attackers, what direction they came from and who they were?
The werewolves tracked better as wolves. They scouted the area. Paddy and I followed the trail from the Junction House. It went along the river to the rapids there they had crossed from the other side of the Outaouais on foot.
There I found the scent of fifty men.
"They came on horseback to here." I told Paddy. "They came from the South."
"South?"
"Their trail is the same one Barkley and Franklin took to come to the gathering."
"Really?"
"I can still smell their scent." I nodded. "It will not be hard to track fifty men and horses." I said.
"Let us go tell the Council."
We returned to the cave. Shaun met us. "You two look happy."
"We found the place where they crossed the river. Fifty men came from the South. Dad."
"South! Good we will setup some squads to seek them out."
We informed the Council. They had Shaun hold a meeting the next morning.
The next morning we stood and waited for the Council in the main chamber. Everyone was anxious to hear the results of the investigation.
The Elite Guardsmen escorted the Council members to their platform.
Councilman Klaus stepped forward.
"Good morning."
"Good Morning Sir." The Councilman smiled.
"After close to three months being left for dead and two weeks of investigating. We found out this: there were fifty men who came from the South on horseback then they crossed the Outaouais rapids on foot, broke into small groups of four or five men and coordinated their attack after surrounding the entire hill and sentry cabins."
"As they closed in they silenced the sentries and burned the log cabins on the hill they came into our home and almost succeed in destroying us."
"They were able to take down one hundred and fifty of us in a matter of hours with these things." He held up the wooden stake and shots.
"Now how we see it some one obviously knows about our community. We are going to send a group of you to find and watch them."
"Then we will visit their community."
Everyone cheered.
"Shaun will make up the group. He will let you know." The Councilman nodded. "We will talk again." The Council left for their chambers. Shaun dismissed everyone.
We followed Shaun to his quarters then sat at the kitchen table discussing the plan.
"The Council wants fifty of us in the first group then another fifty for support." Shaun said. "The first group will have all our best trackers. Paddy, Quinn, Cory and Kylie will head up the first group. Dennis, Philip and James will also be with you. The rest will probably be your squads."
We nodded.
"Liam, Lizzy, Shannon, Beverly, Colleen, Gen and I will bring the support group in. We will follow you in two weeks. That should give you enough time to find them."
"Once we join you we will decide on our attack method."
"All right Dad when do we leave?" Cory asked.
