"See, perfect for each other." Her father commented as Omkaara slammed the door behind him.

"Yeah just like you were for my mother." Gauri scoffed.

Her father didn't say anything after that. And Omkaara's taunt made her all the more determined to see his downfall.
Now she spent every waking moment trying to gather information about that idiot. Which brought her back to the Oberoi Mansion with Kalyani sitting in front of her.

"What's up with the company? Is it truly hers?" Gauri decided not to beat around the bush. On paper, the entire Oberoi Empire belonged to Priyanka. Not Omkaara, not Shakti not even Shivaay or Rudra, it was all Priyanka's.

"Gauri beta, who told you all this? Was it Om? Beta, you have to trust us, we were the victims."

"Of course, I believe in you Dadi." Gauri held Kalyani's shaking hands. "Just tell me the truth. So that I can help."

"Tej forged the papers after my husband died. He wanted the company and the house. He couldn't settle for any less. I guess it was my fault for not raising him properly. But Shakti had always loved his older brother too much. So, he let him have it knowing that Tej was dying anyway." When Gauri raised an eyebrow, Kalyani explained. "He had a congenital heart disease. He had lived well above his expected lifespan."

"So Shakti uncle didn't ask Tej uncle to amend his will to include Shivaay and Rudra?"

"He couldn't. Not when his brother was suffering so much."

"So when did he die?"

"When Omkaara was 12 and Priyanka 9. It was hard on all of us. But Shakti raised both of them like his own. When Priyanka began having her maniac episodes, Shakti was the one to get her help. Omkaara was always too money hungry to look past the company. Eventually, the power got to his head and he started abusing drugs. Even now Shakti is the one paying for Priyanka's treatment. Once Omkaara was charged with drug abuse, he was forced to go ahead and admit himself into a rehab. But right before he was admitted, he transferred his shares to Priyanka. Shakti finally had enough and decided to fight for the company. Priyanka couldn't run the company from her asylum and her power of attorney was given to Omkaara who also couldn't run the company from the rehab. Seeing how selfish Omkaara had become really opened Shakti's eyes. He decided to fight , not for his children's rights but for the protection of the thousands of families that depend on the company for a livelihood. It only seemed right that he did."

Gauri didn't know whether she hated Omkaara before talking to Kalyani but now she was sure that she loathed him.

"Can I see the court's judgement on the matter? There has to be a reason Shakti uncle is able to make all these decisions and act like the company is his."

"Oh, but there was no decision." Kalyani wiped her tears. "The case is still ongoing. It was all because the employees trusted Shakti that he could take lead after your father lent us money to get through the tough time."

To be honest, Gauri had never liked Shakti. Because it always seemed like he was too interested in the money she had to offer. But Kalyani's words made her realise that he was probably clinging onto the only hope in this shit show. Afterall her father had probably been their saviour in this financial nightmare. There was no way any sensible investor would dip his hands into a messy court case.

Why would her father do that then?

"I'll get the company back to you, Dadi. I promise."

Kalyani smiled with tears shining in her eyes.

"I thought we had a deal." Omkaara glared at Ritesh Malhotra.

"That was before my daughter started dating your cousin."
