The smell of vanilla crème and pumpkin spice in the air, the warmth as you come in from the cold and the little ringing of the bell every time someone walks in. Those where the familiar sights, sounds and smells that greeted Rosie every time she set up for her day shift at the bakery where she worked.

But it wasn't just a job to Rosie, it was an escape from her daily life. When she was home she felt lost, but in the bakery, well that's the only place she at least kind of felt at home.

She'd always had a bit of a knack for baking. She'd been doing it since she was small. It had started out when she would bake with her mother as a little girl. They'd make all sorts of wonderful things and Rosie could remember just how happy they used to be when they did that.

When her mother had passed away when Rosie had just turned sixteen, she lost her passion for a while, but once she'd worked enough to save up, she started studying the art of patisserie and hadn't looked back since. Now that she was 21 years old, she'd worked her way up to be quite well known in the area for her lavishly designed custom cupcakes and other such treats. Even though she was still studying, people thought that she was older than she was due to how good she was at her craft.

There was nothing quite like getting to make people smile with what you did for them, and that, to Rosie, was the best part of it all. It's what made it all worth it.

Apart from work though, Rosie's life wasn't exactly upbeat. She'd lost her mother, her father had left them when she was small, and she barely had any friends. Of course, there was nothing wrong with being more on the introverted and shy side, which Rosie most certainly was, but sometimes she couldn't help but to wish that she could meet someone who would love her for her.

The meagre amounts of dates she had gone on, had only ever ended in disaster. Usually when they had found out that Rosie didn't like to drink or party, they just didn't want anything to do with her. But she had her reasons for not partying or drinking any alcohol and she certainly wasn't about to try to change herself just to please others.

It did however mean though, that finding true love seamed rather impossible. Especially when most of the girls Rosie's age, wanted to do little more than partying and drinking and partying again.

It was on the first day of winter, when one moment, made everything begin to change.

The woman that walked through the door was literally mouth-wateringly hot. With short dark hair in a pixie cut which highlighted her light green eyes perfectly, and a leather jacket that hugged her in all the right ways. She was the epitome of a bad girl, or at least that's what her style seamed to say, and as Rosie couldn't help but to stare at the gorgeous phenomenon walking towards her, she froze as the woman suddenly caught her eye and....

Smiled at her?

Rosie gave a little surprised gasp before she bit her lip and made a quick retreat into the kitchen at the back of the bakery. There, she leant on the wall and placed a hand to her heart.

A girl like that was dangerous.

Dangerous to her heart because she was exactly her type! If she allowed herself to catch her eye again, and... if she asked her out, things could only go one way and that one way would surely lead to heartbreak city. Somewhere that Rosie had had quite enough of for an entire lifetime thank-you very much.

But, even as she thought this, Rosie couldn't help but to bite her lip a little harder as she remembered just how bright those eyes where and just how much that smile had made her knees feel weak.

"Those cupcakes, are.... amazing. Could I ask who makes them?" Came a voice from the counter.

Rosie gingerly walked a little closer and peaked around the wall, just enough so that the woman likely wouldn't see her, but still enough to hear the conversation going on between her and her colleague.

"Rosie does, she's our best baker, makes em fresh every morning. Does custom orders too!"

The woman smiled as she nodded and studied the cupcakes admiringly.

"Is Rosie the one with the pink apron and bow in her hair?" She finally asked as she picked a cupcake by pointing it out and asking for two.

"Yeah she is, have you two met?" Anna asked and the woman smiled as she paid and accepted the little bag that held the cupcakes inside of it.

Even the bags where adorable with swirly writing on the front and a pastel pink aesthetic.

It wasn't something that would usually intrigue the woman, but somehow, the fact that the cutie from before had made them, made her intrigued beyond belief.

"Just Briefly, I hope that the next time, I might get to meet her again." She said, and this time., Rosie squeaked as the woman's head turned to face her. It was as if she'd known that she'd been hiding there the whole time, and she literally winked at her before she walked away with a sly swish of those truly glorious hips.

"Oh goodness, help." Rosie murmured to her colleague who simply giggled at her obviously flustered state.

Perhaps, just one little conversation, the next time she came by, couldn't really hurt....

Could it?
