Emily POV

I slammed my door and locked it.

I can't believe i'm stuck here for more than a month! This sucks! what did I do to deserve the way she lied about me!? Was I really that bad?

I sighed, and lay down on my bed. I looked up at the ceiling.

"What a great second day.." I mutter sarcastically. I could feel tears stinging my eyes. Before I knew it I was crying. I took my bag from under my bed and pulled out my ipod touch, and headphones, turning on music. I lay still for a good five minutes, letting the lyrics consume me.

I sat up and decided to call my best friend, Marie.

Me and her met in the system. She got adopted, but me and my sister never did. That's why we're here.

I paused my music and and went to the "Text and Call" app. I found her picture ID (A cat with dork glasses on) and clicked it. The ipod rang for a few seconds before she answered. "Emily, hey! How you been? I heard you got transferred. How has that been?" She rambled. if you haven't noticed she likes to talk... a lot. "I've okay I guess... but the foster mom here Mrs. Tanner hates me! I swear she's trying to get me kicked out." I said realizing my voice was rising.

I stood up and paced the room, calming myself.

"You have gotta hang in there. You have been through worse hun. My mom is calling me I have to go, but try to get some sleep. We don't want a repeat of last time." I stiffened at the mention of what happened last time. "Okay, we'll talk soon." I took the ipod from my ear, and pressed the end call button.

As Marie instructed and tried to get some rest. I found myself wrestling with the sheets, trying to get comfy. Finally a sense of peace fell over me like a blanket of snow. My eyes closed shut as the dark crept around me.

I was sitting in a row boat with Charlie Parton, my childhood crush. The trees caved over us, and the leaves fell into the water.

As the boat moved down stream a huge version of my hamster Buddy stared at us. He was on the edge of the river. His big eyes looked at me round and begging.

Charlie stood up and took out what looked to be a knife. He grew and was now standing next to my hamster, with one swift motion my hamster was in the river. The red liquid spilled from him and mixed with the water lazily around me.

Slowly the boat started to tip over. The boat filled with the red water. I fell deeper into the cold, cavern of nothingness. Soon I could no longer see the daylight. I felt the urge to try and breath, but that would only drowned me. I tried to swim but a rope was now tied around my ankle. I could hear ringing in my ears, warning me death was near. The ringing grew louder and louder.

I woke up, a little startled with my dream. I realized the beeping was my alarm clock, going off.

That was weird.

I lifted my arm, and lazily shut my alarm up. I looked at the time. I only had fifteen minutes till school started! I got up, now fully awake, and ran to my dresser. I skipped my shower, and pulled on a quick outfit. A pair of black tights and my long, brown sweater. I slipped on some black bobs, and went to the bathroom. I brushed my hair till it was sorta straight and then did my teeth. Running down stairs I grabbed a pop-tart and started running to school.

My lungs were now hurting from breathing in the cold air so rapidly. I shivered and snuggled into my sweater better. I continued running until I reached the school. I turned around to look at the parking lot.

No one was there...

I thought back to when I was looking at my clock. It had been flickering. Oh dang, it was frozen. Sometimes when my clock is unplugged or messed with it freezes up.

I shivered again. I was dying out here, it was so cold. Someones gotta be inside. I learned here they have some type of leadership council. Basically top notch student. They get here early.

With little hope I walked to the front doors. I pushed on it and thankfully it opened. I walked inside and wanted to melt right there. It felt so warm and cozy in here, after being outside. I decided to go to the front office and tell them I was here. I walked into the front office but no one was here. I walked back out and down the hall. I walked to my first period hoping a teacher was here. I opened the door, and saw no one was here, again.

I turned around deciding to wait in the office, not wanting to get in trouble. I ran into a wall.

I don't remember a wall being here.

I slowly tilted my head upwards. I was met by those dazzling eyes, of Jonathon. "Jonathon." I whispered. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were there." He took a step back, and smiled. "It's okay, us deaf are known to be silent... but deadly." He signed. I laughed. "What are you doing here anyways?" I questioned. "It's a long story."  He signed. I sighed, in disapproval.

I started down the hall. I could here Jonathon walking behind me. He tapped on my shoulder. "Where are you going?"  "To the office. I don't want to get in trouble, for coming early. "Speaking of school, how do you talk to all the hearing teachers?" I asked turning around. "We have a translator here."  "Oh..."

Jonathon's gaze went from me to the entrance. I turned around and saw the principal looking at me. He frowned, a look of disappointment lined his expression.

"Jonathon, Emily, to my office. Now!" I slumped down the hallway and into the office. I followed the long hallway past the meetings room, and into his office. I looked at the name plate on his desk. I had forgotten his name.

Mr. Pastely

I heard some shuffling from down the hall, before Mr. Pastely entered the room.

"I can explain." I said. "Good. Do tell me what was going on." He murmured. "My alarm was all messed up this morning and I got to school early." I explained everything that happened. "Emily, none of the teachers were here yet. One of you must have unlocked the doors somehow." I saw Jonathon signing to Mr. Pastely, beside me. The principal raised his eyebrows at him, confused.

"I can translate." I said. As Jonathon began signing, I told the principal what he was saying. "I came to school early because I was going to use the extra time to... study?" I could tell he was lying. I tapped his shoulder, so he would look at me. Tell... him the... truth." I signed. He sighed, and continued. "I came here so I could go through a few of the files in the teachers lounge." I paused before translating, in a sad tone. "Why?!" Mr. Pastely asked. "To change Jeremy Lamones grades, to get back at him."
