Emily POV

"So I have placed five different brushes in front of you. Choose one." Ms. Dopple stated. One of the girls at the front raised her hand. Ms.Dopple nodded to her. "Why choose one?" She asked. "Well each one is different as you can see. If you are able to make one painting that tells a story, with one paint brush you can make it in my class. If you can no pack your things, and leave. Tomarrow I want a painting on my desk, from each of you. It has to be able to touch someone, make them shudder."

"Harsh..." Hannah muttered beside me. "Hannah! If you can't be quiet you'll find yourself walking on wire." Ms.Dopple said, coldly.

Insperation hit me.

Walking on wire. What a perfect theme.

I smiled. Ms.Dopple began explaining how different paint brushes and strokes, make all the difference. She used a few of her famous paintings, as an example.

At the end of the class I began to pack my things. "So what you gonna paint?" Hannah asked. "Wait and see. I think I have an idea, that tells a story. You got an idea?" I asked. Hannah thought for a second. "No..." "If you want I could help you find inspiration. You in?" "Sure!" "But you have to agree to one thing. No madder what happens you can't back down." I warned. Hannah began to think again. "Okay." "Meet me after school, at the back entrance." I told her.

I parted away from her, down the hall. I reached my Spanish class.

"Entra!" My teacher spoke, in Spanish. "Sentarse." She said, meaning "Sit". I took my seat, and looked down at my desk. The desk was carved into, in many places. I guess this is what happens when hundreds of teenagers have sat in the same desk, before.

"Emily!?" My teacher called. "Yes Mr.Ramos?" I answered, looking up. "You have been paying attention well. Why don't you explain to the class my personal vocabulary I just explained, in Spanish?" I felt my face turn red. I tried to remember some of the things he had said.

Silent, forgotten... What else!?

"Um... silencioso, and um olvidados?" At least I tried... right? "The others?" Mr.Ramos asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm sorry..." I sighed.

Mr.Ramos looked away from me. "As I was saying my vocabulary. Tender, tierno. Rashon, celos." He began speaking again. Like the idiot I was, I ignored him again.

Time passed slowly, every minute felt like an hour. I leaned my head on my hand. Mr.Ramos was now making us put our Spanish into sentences. He passed out a worksheet. I groaned, and glanced at the slip of paper. Above each line, was a word in English. The instructions said we just had to translate the English to Spanish, and put it in a full Spanish sentence.

Simple...

I began translating words, and using them in sentences. I soon finished. I groaned and finally the beautiful bell rang.

"Finally!" I shouted. Many of the others students looked at me like I was insane. I grabbed my binder and slid my paper on the teachers desk. I hurried out of the room. I found my locker and put my stuff inside.

I walked back and forth on the hill next to the school entrance. Hannah finally came out, and walked towards me. "Okay so what's first?" "Well first we pick a topic. Any ideas?" I asked. "How about nature?" She asked. "Good idea." I began walking down the hill. "Where we going?" She asked. "You'll see." I laughed. We walked back down stairs. "Hey Mr.Tanner?" I asked. "Yes?" He asked. "Can you bring us to the lake?" I asked. "Sure. Also I was wondering when you would like to visit your bio mom?" He asked, a bit quieter. "Can we talk about it later?" I asked. "Of course." He nodded. "You can go get in the car. I'll be out in a sec." He said smiling, at Hannah.

I took a few things including, two canvas, the paint brushes me and Hannah chose, and a set of paint. I put them into a large bag, and went back to Hannahs side.

We both walked outside. The air was chilly, so we quickly walked to the car. We got in the grey Sedan. I sat in back with Hannah.

After a few minutes of silence Mr.Tanner came out. He climbed in the front seat.

"So where we headed again?" He asked. I leaned forward and whispered the secret location into his ear. "Okay. We should arrive in about 5 to 10 minutes!" He exclaimed, backing out of the driveway.

Twelve minutes passed. Mr.Tanner pulled into a dirt clearing, next to Cloud Lake. It was called this because of a small island. A island was in the middle of the lake, and it was shaped as a cloud. In the winter time snow falls onto the island, turning it white. Indians used to think a piece of the cloud had fallen from the sky, and settled over the water.

Yeah, I know my history.

A/N

That's not really true. I made it up. Lol! :D

End of A/N

"Thanks for the ride. I'll text you when we are ready, to head back." I said exiting the car. I handed Pearl my extra sweater. "Thanks, it's freezing, out here." "No problem." I shrugged. I closed the car door, and Tanner left.

"So what inspiration, am I gonna find here?" She asked. "I don't know. We have to wait and see." I laughed. We began walking down the the rocky shore. Hanah grabbed on to my arm and screetched. "What?!" I asked frightened. "Sorry, I slipped." We both laughed. I hung onto her arm, as she hung onto mine, for balance.

"You know there is an old story about this lake." I suggested. "What is it?" She asked. I then explained to her about the island, indians, and clouds. "That's really cool." She said. "Yeah." "You know maybe if we can get to the island, I can make my painting based on that." She stated. "Okay. The lake is frozen over. I don't know if it is thick enough, but maybe we can walk over it?" I suggested. She nodded.

I slowly placed my foot onto the ice, balancing my weight.

Well, here we go again.
