~ Chapter 21 ~
As I stood there staring at the blood red liquid streaming down onto the floor, I slowly lifted my head up to come face to face with my prosecutor. Big, black shades covered his eyes, so you couldn’t see his facial expression. Even thought I couldn’t see half his face, he looked so familiar. I remember long ago when I was just in elementary school...I was playing with Lexi in the school’s playground when a man just like him stood at the front gate staring at me. I had such an eerie feeling from it that I was never able to erase it from my memory. I stood there dazed from his intimidating appearance as he slowly slid onto the ground before landing with a thump. He stayed put except for his rapidly moving chest from making ragged breaths.
“T-t-ori,” he croaked suddenly making me jump in surprise. Out of natural instincts, I pressed my blade against his throat threatening him to open his mouth again.
“How do you know my name? Did you shoot Lexi?” I demanded pressing my blade further into his neck. Blood kept spilling out of his shoulder slowly staining my sneakers. With my free hand, I whipped his shades off to look him full on the face. His eyes didn’t look at all familiar, but I couldn’t shake away the same eerie feeling I had years ago. What was with him?
When he didn’t answer either of my questions, I threw him another one, “Did you kill my parents?”
His lips instantly turned up into a smile. “That day was the most fun I’ve ever had.”
Outraged, I pierced my dagger into his neck, took it out, and stabbed him in the same spot repeatedly. After multiple blows to his body, my hands started to uncontrollably shake as the reality of it all started to sink in. My shocked state had numbed me from thinking throughly, but now it started to wear off. Blood gurgled out of his mouth and his eyes rolled into the back of his head. “Goodnight,” I whispered into his ear before his limp torso fell to the ground.
I stood up and let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I finally avenged my parents. A small tear escaped the corner of my eye and landed on the murderer’s body.
Suddenly, a loud shot rang through the hospital not too far away. A few nurses screamed and before I could count to ten, dozens of people started running through the hallways yelling for help. I crouched low, dodging everyone, and ran back to Lexi’s room to make sure she was alright. As I approached her room, the door was open. A few people slowed down in front of her door with appalled expressions on their faces before sprinting at full speed away from there. This instantly triggered my parental instincts. What if she’s dead? Did someone murder her? Is she still alive? All these questions raced through my head before I finally reached the doorway.
Clad in just a hospital gown, Lexi held a gun in her hand with a dead man at her feet. She had just about the nastiest look on her face. “Bastard,” she sneered at him before kicking his lifeless body to the side.
“Lexi!” I screamed tackling her in a bear hug. She was alive and well! I can’t believe it; it’s a miracle! More tears fell down my cheeks, but these were of pure joy. She really was ok. “Lexi, you’re awake! O my gosh, I thought I lost you! I’m so glad you’re back! You’re not hurting or anything right? Can you stand ok? Can you walk? Do you need any painkillers? Are you feeling light-headed?” I pounded questions on her.
“Tori!” she chuckled, “I’m perfectly fine! Practically back to normal! Did you really think that high heels would kill me? Puh-leez!” she laughed holding my face in between her hands.
“I’m just so happy you’re ok,” I whispered due to my very emotional state.
“Aw, Tori! Please don’t cry, you know I hate being emotional,” she pleaded.
“Ok, I’ll try,” I sniffled turning back around towards the door as mobs of people flew past our room. A few more gun shots echoed throughout the hospital informing us that there was more to come. Taking Lexi’s hand in mine I said, “Come on, we got some more to catch!”
“Now, that’s more like it, Sis!” she proclaimed.
Quickly walking over to the chair next to the door, I tossed her a black duffel bag that I had packed with extra clothes. She caught it and ran into the bathroom to change. There was another black backpack on the chair that I had packed with weapons just in case of emergencies like this. Ripping the top open, I took out a pistol and stuffed it into my jeans’ back pocket while taking out my submachine gun. It was my favorite; the UMP-45. I had attached a lens with red dot sight on it too. Yea, people would take one look at me and assume I was one of those wimpy girls who only carried a four inch pistol that did minimal damage. All I have to say is, looks are deceiving.
The bathroom door slammed open as Lexi ran towards my bag looking restless. “Is everything ok?” I asked.
“Three more guys on the roof,” she plainly stated. Out of the backpack, Lexi pulled out four pieces of metal that formed a sniper when put together. In a minute flat, she had the whole thing up and ready to go.
“You go up to the roof while I’ll camp out in one of the hospital rooms and snipe from there. Don’t worry, I got your back,” she ordered while loading her gun.
“Ok, but be careful alright?” I said in a mother-like tone.
"You be careful too,” she replied. I gave her a small smile and a salute before running out of the room towards the stairs that lead up to the roof and my fate.

No editing sadly.... Alright I know this is SUPER short, but I’m just starting to get back into the groove of things. Sorry, I’ve been away for almost 3 months D: You guys must hate my guts for not uploading! I’m SOO sorry!! DX To be honest, in February, I had major writer’s block and I was getting into editing so I gradually started to neglect and forget about this story. Plus, on top of all that I have school and star testing (which is like a final exam that tests you on everything you learned that year) which didn’t help my case. But I’m back now!! YAY! I’m not dead! aha
COMMENT, VOTE, FAN!! -Stephy
BTW I’m thinking about writing another story. I’m trying to decide if I should try writing about Rapunzel or Kida (from the Disney movie Atlantis), but in a modern version, or about a super hero (family maybe? If you’ve ever watched the movie, the incredibles....something like that). IDK, tell me what you think!! Don’t be afraid to comment; I don’t bite! :)
