~ Chapter 28 ~

"Can you pass me that towel?" Logan asked me.

"Sure," I tossed him a towel that was hanging on the rack inside the bathroom, "here."

"Thanks." He smiled cheekily at me before rubbing the towel around his head of wet hair. He had just gotten out of the shower when the hotel's phone rang. Lexi called, since she was in another room, saying she got a lead on Max. He was headed to a pier in San Fransisco, California. And he would be there in two days. Alex had gotten a hold of the Texas HQ; they tracked Max down.

"Lex booked us a flight to San Fransisco tonight at 11:00. We're flying red eye," I stated while applying my make-up on in front of the mirror. For some odd reason Tom had some of our stuff packed in the car. Like some extra clothes and hair products. Better safe than sorry.

"What time is it now?" Logan went into the bedroom and grabbed his new, but cheap shirt. Tom had nothing packed for the boys so we stopped by at a Target to buy them some new clothes. Their old shirts had holes in them and were stained with blood and dirt. Logan came back into the bathroom with his head stuck in his shirt. Laughing at his goofyness, I helped him pull the shirt down so his head went through the neck hole.

"It is..." I popped my head out and looked at the clock on the bedside table, "eight thi-" I was cut off when I turned back around and was met with Logan's lips. He gently kissed me as I kissed him back. He placed both of his hands on my cheeks as he moved my face impossibly closer to his.

Out of breath, "You're so beautiful Tori." It made me smile and he kissed me again. Did he really just say that? My heart melted at his smoldering eyes that showed how much he truly meant what he said.

"You're handsome," I replied cooly after we broke apart. Laughing at my remark, he kissed my cheek.

There was a knock on the door. "Coming!" I shouted towards the front. I came out of the bathroom and bounded over to the door. Opening it slowly, Lexi suddenly jumped into the room and onto the bed. Alex was right behind her, but he came in normally without so much energy, unlike Lexi. Grabbing the remote on the bed, Lexi turned on the television and changed it to some game show. Alex pulled a chair out from the desk in the corner and sat in it.

"No hello? Are you giving me the silent treatment or something?" I asked with my palms up.

Lexi laughed. "Why would I give you the silent treatment? You didn't do anything. Or did you?" she asked looking me up and down.

"No, I didn't do anything. Sheesh!" I exclaimed smiling at her.

"Good." She turned back to the television.

I gasped, "Our house is on the news!" There on the screen, was the new's anchorman and a video of our house with the police surrounding it. Black smoke was in the air and pieces of our house were falling off.

"Well, good thing this house belongs to a mister and miss Rodgers," stated Lexi.

"You put in a fake name?" I replied.

"We always have to be prepared you know!" Lexi threw her arms in the air exasperated. I chuckled in response. Lexi was always ready for the worse. It was almost impossible to make her feel speechless.

"We should start heading out now if we want to find Max," Logan said as he put on his shoes.

"Yea, Logan's right. Come on." Alex stood up from his seat and opened the door for us. Grabbing the remote, I turned off the television and left the room with everyone behind me.

"Logan and I will break in the room and you girls will snipe from above ok?" Alex ordered us. We were getting out of the car which was parked in the Marriot hotel lot. The hotel was on a cliff edge; there was about a hundred feet of rock that people hiked on every day before the big drop.
