~ Chapter 13 ~
-LEXI-
“Marissa and Selena Cromber, please report to the office. I repeat, Marissa and Selena Cromber please report to the office,” a voice blasted through the school’s intercom. Yes! I don’t have to stay in second period with cranky Mr. Kronc.
“Girls, here are the five worksheets you’ll have for homework,” Mr. Kronc handed us a stack of papers, “and they’re all due tomorrow,” he dismissed us. Dang, that’s a hell of a lot to do in one night, but since Tori and I got out GED when we were fourteen, it should be a piece of cake. You see, once we both decided to join the agency, we had to get high school out of the way. While we trained for a year, we also took courses to get our GED.
I practically danced out of the classroom with Tori following behind me. I turned to face her once we were in the hallway and the door was shut. “We’re free!”
“But, we have to go to the office now,” Tori said drearily. Her posture was slightly slumped while she walked toward another building. What’s she so worked up about? She shouldn’t be worried about anything. She should, by now, know that together we’re invincible; nothing can hurt us.
“Are you OK? Nothing’s going to happen to us,” I attempted.
“You don’t know that. I mean, we kinda just left three immobile people in the bathroom,” she said in a duh tone.
“Mmmm, we should have dropped them in their cars then.”
“No, cause then we would have been late to class.”
“O, well sorry! This is all my fault I should have taken better care of them,” I remarked sarcastically. Why is she getting mad at me? She’s the one that knocked out two of them. I just ‘accidentally’ knocked out the other one.
Tori let out a sharp breath, “Sorry. I’m just a little worried that I took this too far. I didn’t mean to blame anything on you.”
I let out a long breath, “It’s fine. Let’s go in the office and get this over with, OK?”
“Yes, ma’am!” she saluted.
We were both standing in front of the office now. It was big and there were multiple windows all around the building. I opened the door and held it there, letting Tori step in first. A woman that looked to be in her late thirties sat at the front counter. “Are you two Marissa and Selena Cromber?” she asked not looking up from her desk.
“Yes, we are. Do you kno-”
“Then walk down the hall and go into the last door on the left,” she replied cutting me off. Someone hates their job...
“Umm thanks,” Tori said and started off to the back room. I followed her to the back, but stopped at the door. “Here we go,” Tori said opening the door at the same time.
Inside there was a big desk facing us with three chairs in front of it. There was a man in a suit standing next to the desk. I assume this must be the principal. In the three chairs were Plastic, Chiseler, and Barbie. Plastic sat on the chair on the far right with an ice pack held up to her cheek. I’m guessing behind the ice, there’s an imprint of Barbie’s hand on her face. On the far left was Chiseler. She didn’t even glance at us; she just looked annoyed. In the middle, of course, was Barbie who was smiling cruelly at me and Tori. I don’t think I scared them enough...well, obviously I didn’t otherwise they wouldn’t have dared mess with me. I’ll be teaching them a little lesson after school, if you know what I’m saying.
“Hello ladies. I’m Mr. Hank, the principal and I’ve been told that there’s been some bullying happening on campus. Mostly by you two I’ve heard. Care for an explanation?” He stated searching, from me to Tori, for a hint.
“I’m not sure what your implying Mr. Hanks. Nothing’s nothing going on. I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding.” Tori replied calmly.
Mr. Hank shifted his weight to one foot and leaned against his desk, “According to these three,” he motioned to Plastic, Barbie, and Chiseler, “you’ve beat them up and, quote, left them for dead, unquote, in the bathroom.”
“O, no. It’s all a misinterpretation,” I implied, “You see, we were all in the bathroom minding our own business when, um...” what were their real names? “...these two girls,” I pointed at Chiseler and Barbie, “bumped into each other smacking their heads together and knocked each other out.”
Barbie looked at me, her mouth wide open with her jaw touching the floor. Mr. Hanks turned around to sit in his chair. I glared back at Barbie giving her my best smirk.
“Continue,” Mr. Hanks prompted.
“So then...” Darn it! What the hell is Plastic’s name? “...she,” I tilted my hand towards Plastic, “tried to run out of the bathroom to get help, but Marissa opened the door accidentally hitting her head,” I finished. Thank God I was an identical twin otherwise they would have noticed that I was the one outside the bathroom who opened the door and Tori was the one they held hostage.
“NO, that’s not what happened at all,” Barbie protested, “she made me faint!”
“No, no. I tried to reach out to her so she wouldn’t make a hard fall. That was probably the last thing she saw and thought I was hurting her or something.” I claimed with a sweet smile.
“OK, Selena, Marissa, you can go back to class now. Thank you for clearing things up.” Mr. Hank told me.
“But, you can’t just let them go Mr. Hanks! They hurt us!” Barbie was now almost on the floor begging. How pathetic. Just give it up already.
“They were unconscious for a while. They could just be imagining things,” Tori reassured the principal.
“Yes, I think that’s the case. You two can leave now,” he declared.
“Thank you. And bye,” I said as I opened the door and stepped out.
“What a snitch,” Tori spoke to me.
“Yea, I know. I’m thinking about a little revenge after school. Teach them to leave us alone. They don’t wanna mess with us. Whatcha think?”
Tori walked beside me silent in deep thought for a minute. “OK, I can’t resist this perfect opportunity. I’m in.” She gave me a mischievous grin.
The bell rang signaling the end of second period. We rounded the corner of the office heading towards English class when I bumped into someone.
“There you are,” Alex said putting his arms around my shoulders steading me, “I heard the principal call you into the office. Is everything OK? What happened?”
“O, we just had a a run down with Barbie and her posse right before Chemistry class. They tried to get us expelled, but all’s well. We fixed everything...almost,” I told him.
Alex laughed, “Barbie?”
“O, yea, uhhh, super clingy and obsessive, blonde hair, sits in the front in History class?”
“Taylor,” he said in a low voice.
“Taylor? Who’s the other blonde and the brunette?”
“The blonde one’s probably Megan and the other one with a lot of make up?” I nodded, “That’s Vienna.”
“Well, they better watch their backs,” I said evilly sneaking a glance at Tori. She looked at me with a smirk of her own.
“What?” Alex asked puzzled.
“O nothing you need to worry about. Come on let’s get to class,” I tugged on Tori’s sleeve.
“OK, then I’ll see you next period.” Alex enveloped me into a hug and planted a kiss on my head, then walked off in the opposite direction.
“Bye,” I tried keeping my cool. OMG!
