~ Chapter 11 ~
-LEXI-
“Tori! We got a package!” I yelled into the house. I was standing outside on my doorstep looking down at a small cardboard box. This must be from Tom, and boy, is it heavy!
“What is it?” Alex asked behind me. Ever since the conference three nights ago, Logan and Alex have been spending most of their time at our house. They really do want to help us out. Yesterday, Logan went on a small trip down to his agency’s headquarters in Texas to use their high-tech searching machine. Turns out we’re working for the same people; Logan and Alex for the Texas HQ, and Tori and me for the Seattle HQ. Good thing, otherwise we’d all be in a huge amount of trouble for working with people from a different organization.
When Logan used the search engine, a small picture showed up. It was of all five men in a car, but it was taken two years ago. Who knows how they look now, but hey, it’s better than nothing. When I first looked at the picture, I was easily able to identify two of them. One, who only looked to be nineteen in the picture, was definitely the guy who pointed his knife at Tori and kicked me in the gut. The other man had blonde hair; the one that knocked my parents out. The rest of the three men looked completely unfamiliar.
“OOOO, open it!” Tori exclaimed running up to me and Alex. I picked up the package, went into the study, and placed it on one of the desks. To any normal teenager the package would have been heavy, but thanks to my very in shape, butt kicking body, it was as light as a feather. With my switchblade I always carried around, I opened the box. Peering inside, all I could make out was paper, paper, and more paper. Dang! How much information is there? This could take me a whole week to read! I took out a pile of papers and glanced at all the pages.
“Wow, Tom didn’t tell us he found this much data,” I breathed still focused on all the papers.
“Why didn’t we get any information before? How did we get all this so suddenly?” Tori asked herself.
“There was probably some type of blockage their system put up making sure our agency couldn’t spot them,” Alex said.
“So somehow, their system went down?” Tori asked.
“Or our search engine was updated and the blockage wasn’t powerful enough to hide all this info,” Alex answered.
Logan walked into the room and whistled, “That’s a lot to read through.”
“It sure is, but most of it looks like useless data,” I replied, “guys, it’s seven forty-five, we’re going to be late for school.”
“No we won’t, unless you’re not driving with me!” Alex stated jogging out of the house to his Saleen. Logan took off after him while Tori and I raced behind him to see who got shotgun.
-TORI-
I was racing against Lexi towards the car. I was way in front of her of course, since I was the athletic one out of us two. I was slowly catching up to Logan, but was cut off short when he touched the car first. He turned around with a silly grin on his face, “I get shotgun!”
“I don’t think so; ladies go first,” I retorted with my own silly grin.
“No way! I won fair and square!” he said crossing his arms, acting like a little kid.
“Suckers! I get shotgun!” Lexi called out as she sprinted past us and into the passenger seat.
“Well, I guess that leaves us two in the back, together,” Logan winked and put his arm around my shoulders. What would I do without him? Woah there, what did I just say? Am I actually starting to like him? No, no, no. I can’t; I have a job and I don’t want him in the way.
Logan dragged me to the side of the car and opened the door, “Now you can go first, Madame.”
“O, why thank you humble gentleman,” I decided to play along and curtsied. We both seated ourselves into the car as Alex bolted out of the parking lot. School, here we come!
