~ Chapter 16 ~
-TORI-
I stared up in shock at Lexi. She saw everything; I'm doomed. Once Alex and Logan are gone, I know she's going to rant to me about Logan, my love life, how we're perfect for each other and blah, blah, blah.
"Tori? Tori, are you ok?" Logan asked concern covering his face.
"Huh? O, yea."
"I've been calling you for the past minute."
"Sorry," I mumbled.
"Anyway, do you want to stay over for dinner? You can meet Alex's and my parents."
I gulped, "you're parents?"
"Is that ok? Or does that make you nervous?" he smirked with his eyebrows raised.
"N-no."
"You're a bad liar Tori. How do you manage to go on missions if you can't lie?"
I felt my face burn up. This is embarrassing. Since when was lying ever hard? I always lied. I bet the boys are making me into an average hormonal teenager!
"He's right. You are a bad liar! She's blushing!" Alex stated pointing at me while plopping down in a seat next to Logan.
Lexi walked into the living room we were in and took a seat next to me. "Stop picking on her and I lie for Tori, duh. Otherwise she'd completely blow our cover. Isn't that right sis?"
"O, so you tell the boys not to pick on me but you can?"
"Well I am your sister."
"So?"
"So, I think since I've lived with you for my entire life, I've earned the priviledge."
"That's what you THINK but you're wrong."
"I'm never wrong."
"You are a lot of the time actually."
"You are more than me though."
"Nuh-uh!"
"Yea-huh!"
"Nope!"
"Yea!"
"Girls! Save it for dinner!" Logan demanded eyeballing both of us.
"Dinner? I never said I was going to eat with you," I replied.
"You don't want to meet my parents?"
"I-I didn't mean that! I mean of course I want to meet them." I laid my head in my hands covering my face. I don't need to embarass myself even more. I finally looked up after a moment to study their faces.
Alex covered his mouth with his hand trying to hide his laughter. "You look like you're constipated."
Lexi and Logan instantly cracked up. "You're right! She does!" Lexi added. Thanks a lot sis...
I looked down hiding my face with my hair so they couldn't see my cheeks fire up. I'm sure if anyone saw me now they'd think I painted my face red. When their laughter finally ceased I looked back up and narrowed my eyes at Lexi.
Alex pointed at my face, "there it is again!"
Everyone fell head over heels again laughing at me. I shook my head in annoyance. I had enough of this! I'm out! I stood up from the couch and made my way into the kitchen. I need something to drink to hopefully cool off my flustered cheeks. Opening the fridge, I peered inside only to find beer and more beer. What the heck? Is this all Alex drinks? Does he get drunk a lot then? Comfort food? Is something bothering him? All these thoughts raced through mind, but I was too embarrassed at the moment to fret over it.
I took a bottle and opened it. The liquid fizzed and some of it spilled out of the opening. Bringing it to my lips, I took a long swig. Ahhh much better. I placed the bottle down on a counter and quietly creeped back to the doorway that led to the living room. Maybe they won't notice me. I popped my head in the living room quickly to take a peek but found it empty. Where'd they all go? Did they leave me? Lexi would totally ditch me though. I shouldn't be surprised.
Since no one's here then, it's a perfect time to explore! Taking my beer with me, I headed up the marble staircase. It was quite a long one too by the way. I've only been up there once when I was following Jackson into his study. That night I had found out the truth about my parents.
When I finally managed to get to the top, I catiously looked around the house to see if Alex or Lexi was hiding somewhere. Who knows; they might try to sneak attack me. Lexi was already a rebel on her own, but now that Alex is with her she seems to be even more rebellious.
After sweeping the place clean from either Lexi or Alex, I continued my path upstairs. There were two hallways. One had two doors, so I took that one since that's probably where the bedrooms are. The hall that had five doors most likely had the study, laundry room, secret room, etc.
I went to the fathest door first and creaked the door open. Inside I found a king size bed and a huge plasma screen tv in front of it. To the right there was a hall leading into the bathroom. It had a shower and bath with two sinks. Guess that means this is Jackson's room. This leads to one conclusion; the other door is Alex's room. I really wanted to take look inside but it didn't feel right. A month ago this would have been completely normal and maybe even exciting or fun. Why did I feel this way? I can't let this happen to me otherwise before I know it I'll be kicked out of the agency. I have to keep my composture.
Finally finding the will in myself to open Alex's door, I stepped inside while shutting the door behind me. On the right side of the door was the light switch. I turned it on and as I soaked in the sight of Alex's room I nearly fainted.
