chapter 10- congress

you wake up and check the time to see you have to appear in front of congress in less than two hours, you rub the sleep out of your eyes before pulling yourself out of bed, you then get in the shower and start getting ready for the day but more so for the kindergarten session known as congress

As you sit on your side of the bed to tie your shoes you feel jenna wrap around your back. She then kissed your cheek before laying her chin on your shoulder

y/n: i didn't mean to wake you jen"

Jenna: you didn't...how are you feeling?"

y/n: anxious...my entire presidency relies on this testimony"

Jenna: y/n, it's going to be okay.... Oh! And you should check twitter"

y/n: okay...what am I looking for?"

Jenna: just look at the cast of wednesday"

y/n: alright"

You pull out your personal phone and open twitter, you go through wednesday's cast and see that the entire cast, percy excluded had posted videos giving you support and wishing you luck on your congress hearing

You smile and thank them. You then put the phone away

y/n: alright, that's enough distractions"

Jenna gets off you and hands hands you one of your ties

Jenna: you always look good in this one"

Y/n: thank you jen"

You then pop your shirts collar as you start tying the tie, once finished you return your collar to its usual state

Jenna: Are you sure you're feeling okay?"

y/n: of course. I've been through worse...i still have some time, want to get breakfast?"

Jenna's face sparked up as she smiled

Jenna: i'd love that"

y/n: let's go then"

You then take her hand and the two of you start walking to the kitchen but mike stopped the two of you

Mike: i'm sorry to interrupt sir and ma'am but the congressional hearings been moved up to the next ten minutes"

y/n: what? Are you kidding me?"

Mike: I'm afraid not sir. Motorcade is ready"

y/n: shit...i'll be down in a second"

Mike nodded and walked away, you turn to jenna with an apologetic look plastered on your face

Jenna: It's okay, go. We can get something to eat when you get back"

y/n: yes ma'am...i love you"

You place a soft kiss on her lips before walking away

*scene change*

You and your security detail walk through the capitol building until you reach you reach the committees chambers, you take a deep breath and shapely exhale before you open the doors

As you walk in you see the audience of news reporters and camera operators, in front of the room was a single desk, in front of that desk was a taller and bigger desk where seven congressmen were seated, the one in the center being chairman romero

You take your seat and move the two mic stands closer to you

Chairman romero: thank you for joining us today mister president. Before we even begin, this hearing is not to determine your guilt or innocence but rather to determine if the rest of congress should invoke the twenty fifth amendment. Do you understand mister president?"
