For the next moons, which had been long, Marya and her children would live in a sense of peace. The King had become saddened by the leave of his daughter and would spend most his time locked away in his own chambers. It lasted until a raven arrived from Harrenhal which told them Lady Laena and ser Harwin along with Lord Lyonel had been taken by the flames of Harrenhal after a fire had broken out. Lady Laena's children survived as they had been with Rhaenys and Corlys at the time as Laena had arrived in Harrenhal to court Harwin.

Princess Rhaenys would now look after her granddaughters, Verilys and Rhaena, as the Crown was invited for the funeral at Driftmark as Lord Larys didn't want to host a too large of an event for his father and brother, even now that he had received the title of Lord. It made Marya suspicious.

Daemon readied Caraxes as Aemond stood with his mother, sad he could not fly with his siblings. "Do be careful please, I know Driftmark isn't far, but I would still like all my children in one piece" Marya said as she looked at Aegon and Helaena, mounting Sunfyre and Dreamfyre, before Visenya hoisted herself up Cannibal's back. "They will be fine, they are dragons" Daemon said, which made Aemond look down as he held his mother's hand.

Daemon walked to his second son, raising his head by placing his fingers under the boy's chin. "All of the Queen's children are dragons" Daemon said as he looked at Aemond. "sesīr ao, tresy/even you, son" Daemon said as Aemond nodded before he joined his mother and the King, a sight of large dragons flying above them, and Tessarion who had been six years old just as Daeron had been and this had been the longest distance both rider and dragon would fly.

When Marya and Aemond survived at Driftmark, protocol said they had to follow the King, but Marya ignored it as she went to find Princess Rhaenys. "Princess" she said, bowing before her slightly. "Your Grace Rhaenys said as she nodded her head at the Queen. "I offer you my deepest sorrows and condolences, Princess" Marya said holding the Princess; head as she nodded in thanks. "Thank you, Your Grace" Rhaenys said as Aemond offered his own condolences before Daemon and the other children paid their respects too.

Soon they joined the others for the funeral as Marya stood with the King, along with them was unfortunately the King's new—old—Hand, as he stood behind the King and Queen, head held high. Otto Hightower had returned to court after a suggestion of Tyland Lannister who had wed Alicent Hightower and knew his wife missed the presence of her father, and her home. The King had agreed even when Marya had suggested to give the position to his brother.

Marya held the hands of her daughters, Visenya on the left and Helaena on the right, trying to ignore the intrusive thoughts of the possibility she might outlive her own children, she wouldn't want to, she wouldn't know how to cope.

Aegon stood next to the King, with Daeron besides him as Aemond stood next to Visenya and Daemon as he listened to ser Vaemond's speech, which had been spoken in High Valyrian and while most understood, Marya noticed Rhaenyra's children look confused, whispering to their mother as she assumed she was translating it, until ser Vaemond made remarks of the true and bold blood of House Velaryon. Everyone carefully looked at Princess Rhaenyra and gave her a side eye, especially those of Valyrian descent and loyal to House Velaryon, specifically Vaemond. Daemon snickered as he listened to Vaemond's words before Lady Laena's coffin was dropped in the sea.
