Sonya's P.O.V

Sighing, I stared at everyone around me. They were all doing something. It didn't matter if it was productive or not. They definitely weren't sitting on the ground and doing their best to silence their thoughts.

"Sonya, are you alright?"Harriet asked. I only managed a shrug. "What are you thinking about?"

"What I'm always thinking about,"I answered, leaning against a rock. She nodded and took a seat next to me.

"They're both strong and intelligent. They've shown that over and over again. Aris is getting out, and Y/N will find her way here."

I scoffed, and she looked at me but didn't say anything. I knew she was still doubting them inside to. She just refused to show it, or maybe she thought if she didn't believe it it couldn't be true.

"It was life or death out there. There wasn't time to truly think. All we could do was react,"She said, trying to make it better. She was always trying to do that now.

"We were so used to her not letting us help that we didn't think to check. We were to worried about her maybe being upset that we just left her. She's lost or maybe worse,"I responded, closing my eyes. It wasn't in an emotional or aggressive way. I just felt defeated.

"Y/N's going to survive just to spite them. Her pettiness and rage is going to be her biggest motivation. Aris will get out to show them that he can. He'll especially work for it if he meets someone he feels like he can trust. They'll be okay,"She tried to assure me.

We both knew nothing could be certain right now. I wanted to have faith in them, but there was a part inside that doubted me. There was a darker part too that I kept trying to push down.

"You can be upset but don't blame her either. We were all sick of that place. Some of us were just a bit more tired of it than others."

"I'd never thought there would be a day I'd put on that level. She didn't seem like Y/N for a long time. It was like there was a stranger instead of someone who'd been there from the beginning,"I whispered.

"She came back eventually."

"We don't know that. We don't know if Aris found his way out. We don't know if he's out there alive. We don't know if Y/N is dyi-"
"Please, don't say that. Please,"She cut me off.

In the distance the sound of thunder softly rang though the sky. Dark clouds were forming just a few miles away. A storm was coming.

"I hope they sleep safe tonight,"I muttered.

"They will, and if it comes down to it Y/N will run like that limp doesn't exist."

Your P.O.V

I hadn't told anyone else where I had gone. They may want to see the family, and Ms.Cammie will feel like she needs to give us more food. I didn't want her to be any more sad than she had been.

"Where'd you get these? They're heavenly,"Minho exaggerated.

"They're just apples Minho."

"Just apples? Yeah right. I feel like I've been shucked and gone to heaven."

"And I feel like you're dramatic. Just calm yourself."

"Yeah, but where'd you get these?"He repeated.

"Just around here. Don't worry about it. If you keep talking you don't get to savor it."

I didn't listen to if he responded before sitting by Aris. It was still hard to believe he was here.

"Are you going to tell me where you got them?"He asked.

"Maybe later. I'm sure it might make some people happy,"I shrugged. He nodded in understanding.

"I'm glad you're still Aris. I was worried that you weren't you for a moment,"I admitted.

"Why?"He asked.

"Well, being out here sucks. Sometimes you have to change so you can adapt."

"You haven't changed."

"That's nice and all, but I tried to murder Newt. I've done some messed up stuff out here."

I saw his eyes travel to my leg, and I realized what he thought.

"Nothing like that. You don't have to worry about it, okay?"I asked.

"I know. I'm trying."

I grabbed his hand. This was something I had done with the people I care about. I did it with Sonya and Harriet too. It was my way of showing love and appreciation. Aris was more particular about the people allowed to do anything like this, but he said he didn't mind me doing it. It was just people he wasn't close to that usually made him uncomfortable with stuff like that.

"It almost doesn't feel real. I didn't know if you'd get out in time. I knew you'd at least get to those doors, but when those keys were one way I was scared you'd get caught."

"I might have, but I found these guys,"He said.

"A lot of them look like a piece of work,"I joked.

"They can be, but they're good people. I can't say I didn't have my doubts though,"He shrugged.

"Yeah, that's fair. People there were so convinced they were safe. It would have been hard to tell them otherwise without looking insane."

Sighing, I put my head on his shoulder. He was really here. I had gotten one of my best friends back. With him by my side we'd find the others. We were invincible. When we were a team there was nothing we couldn't do.

We just needed our other two back to complete it.
