Deleted scene from chapter 23:
Then Conrad walks in. "Oh hey." He says. "I-I was looking for you."
"Really? Why?" I ask.
"I-I panicked." Conrad says.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"I was on Cleveland's boat and I started to think about everything that I'm going to fuck up. My mom dying, you and I, and just, just everything." Conrad says. "So now, Cleveland knows about my mom." Conrad says.
"Fuck." I say. "Is he going to tell anyone?" I ask.
"Sorry, it-it's not that, that I'm worried about." Conrad says. "It's you." Conrad says. "Mack, I was wrong, don't keep everything inside. It-It won't change anything. It'll just come back and crush you in the end." Conrad says. "I thought I was going to pass out, I thought I was going to die on that boat. I just don't want you going down that same path." Conrad says.
"Conrad, what are you getting to?" I ask.
"Mack, stop keeping everything inside." Conrad says. "You don't have to be strong all of the time." He says.
I look down. "Yes I do."
