Use the other pages of the notebook to write anything that will be important in your story. Names, stories, character origins, etc... maybe even places where your character will be.
Write a sort of provisional outline, too.
Benefits:
You may come up with new ideas as you write.
Update to 2023:
Like I said, I'm making it up as I go along and then we'll see. My notes and summaries are almost non-existent.
For important papers like term papers, etc., I recommend the outline - I do the work with the outline.
