As mentioned earlier, your ideal reader is yourself.
So get someone to read your story and give you feedback. You can then smooth out any inconsistencies or complete details that you didn't notice yourself.
Update to 2023:
If I were to give my concepts to someone to read, they would need a therapist :-)
In addition, I have to maintain some kind of image and reputation.
