Taken For Granted #66

You took your life for granted

You lived it up

You got what you wanted

As you drank another cup

I sat there waiting

On the real you

While you were hating

I am through

The more you drink

The more you ask

The more I think

I am almost done with my task

With my life

As I held it dear

I held the knife

So near

Waiting for the time

To strike

Stop on a dime

You sing in the mic

As I lay in the dark

Laying behind a rock

Wondering where to park

Attaching my stock

You took your life for granted

For death

Is not what you wanted

Your final breath

Comes knocking at the door

As the floor comes crashing under you

You lie under the floor

I am through

Because you took your life for granted

You lived it up

You got what you wanted

As you drank another cup
