Authors Note: Hi friends, I wanted to pop in and say thank you once more for the love and support for everything. I truly see you guys as family on this app and love how you encourage my silly little writing. Speaking of writing there is about to be another Noah story happening—my friend @anonymousDND is writing her story which features both my character Bethany Knight and her character Imogen Henderson from our Stranger Things universe, speaking to her I mentioned I would like to bring them to life or thought about it at least—and I will be! So keep a look out, I will be posting more about that soon.
Two weeks had passed since the awful cold of mine, I was on day three feeling more myself and able to do stuff again. Noah took care of me as much as he could when Nick wasn't around, as Nick of course turned into mother hen when learning his baby sister was sick.
Jamie had basically stayed at our house every night, only going home occasionally to get some clothing—I joked saying she should just move in at this point, she didn't find it that funny but still did have a sense of humor about it.
Sitting at my desk, I finished editing a small video of myself trying on a small clothing brand before sending it off for the promoters of the store, letting out a sigh I ran my hand through my long hair cursing silently when my fingers got tangled in the few knots that were in my hair.
"Hey" knocking as a voice filtered in, eyes glancing up to where my brother stood sandwich in hand, he wore jeans and a black shirt he had for years.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked looking at Nick before closing down my laptop for the day.
Chewing his sandwich he smiled softly, "you are Noah are coming mini golfing at the arcade tonight, we thought about a game night and Jamie doesn't want it to feel like a super cheesy cliché date, so she made sure I invited you and Noah for what ever reason" he said chewing his food some more.
Heart thumping in my chest, I gulped nodding my head, "oh ugh. . . What did Noah say?" Did Nick know? No. . . He couldn't, if he did there wouldn't be inviting us out, there would be screaming happening and the possibility of bloodshed. I knew my brother better than that.
"Just said that sounds fun, why?" he questioned looking at me.
"No, I just remembered this morning he mentioned he was feeling a little under the weather when I spoke to him before work" a bit of a lie, but only to throw Nick off my trail. "What time are we leaving?" change of subject to throw Nick off more.
Nick looked at the time on his phone, "twenty minutes—we are going to get food from there" he said before turning and heading out of my office, leaving me in silence.
I had twenty minutes to get ready, cursing Jamie for not texting me sooner or getting Nick to tell me sooner I rushed down into my room as fast as I could as I tossed my closet looking for something to wear that didn't scream 'I am seeing my brother's best friend and need to look casual' pulling out a long sleeved V-neck crop top that was off the shoulders I slid on the black shirt as I paired it with shorts and fishnet stockings. "You look good" whirling around Jamie let out a chuckle as she leaned against my door, "close your door next time—I got the glimpse of the shirt coming off and stood waiting to make sure no one else came down here" I didn't mind Jamie seeing me, she was my best friend.
"You could have given me more warning about this, why did you ask for me and Noah exactly?" I furrowed my brows; afraid I already knew the answer to that.
A smile spread along her lips as her white teeth flashed, her tanned face seemed to glow in amusement of watching me nervously. "Because you two are going on a date but not acting like a date—I didn't want to go to this alone, and I didn't want to invite other friends because then it is the whole catching up ordeal and I just want to have fun with my best friend as well" she seemed nervous about saying all that.
Blowing out air from my cheeks as I put my long hair into two pigtails, I looked back at her as I applied some lip-gloss, makeup was already done from earlier when I did some filming which was a simple eye look, but I wanted something hydrating on my lips in the meantime. "Relax, as long as Nick doesn't know I am seeing Noah, I don't care" it was the truth, Noah and I weren't even official yet, so we didn't want to deal with trying to think of how to tell Nick, and both of us truthfully weren't looking forward to it.
Going upstairs with Jamie, both Nick and Noah were by the door ready to go. I had my purse on me that contained stuff I might need throughout the night depending on how the night went. "Wow, you two clean up nicely" Jamie whistled at the two men before us—Nick had changed into fresh jeans and a muscle shirt to show off his tattoos to Jamie. Noah wore jeans himself and a loose fitted shirt, he wore a sweater over top he left unzipped.
His eyes met mine and I could see a flash of appreciation in them, as if he was admiring me for how simple I looked, it was a chore to fight the urge to blush at the look. "Well, this is a weird date for us, I mean you both look great—are you sure we want to bring these two?" Nick asked looking at us.
"Yes, let's bring our best friends, they won't mind, will you two, knowing that Nick and I are on a date?" She looked between Noah and me.
The smirk on Noah's lips had butterflies erupting in my stomach. "I don't" he said as his eyes lingered on me for a moment.
"Fae, do you mind?" Nick said looking me over and shaking my head was all the confirmation Nick needed. "Good, let's get going" he said leading us out to the car we would be carpooling in.
Buckling myself in the back seat with Noah I listened to Jamie and my brother ramble on about stuff, even singing along to music Nick had playing on the stereo.
Feeling my phone buzz in my pocket, I pulled it out seeing Noah's name flash on my screen from a message.
Noah: You look amazing, by the way.
Hitting reply, I chewed the inside of my cheek thinking of what to say.
Fae: Not so bad looking yourself, Noah—I even have vanilla lip gloss on, shame you won't be tasting it😉
Noah shifted in his seat beside me before I watched his thumbs get to work typing something on his screen, deleting it a few times and retyping.
Noah: You're such a tease, Fae—you look beautiful still even if you torture me.
Chuckling to myself, I slid my phone back into my purse as Nick pulled into the location of our date, It was the same place we went to the date I got stood up, and I couldn't get stood up this time that much I did know, even if I couldn't make our date public just yet.
Sliding out of the car, I watched as Nick and Jamie led the charge, focused on one another which I was thankful about—grabbing Noah's hand gently I pulled him back towards me. "No telling Nick, remember. . . Just, keep us to ourselves for a little" chewing my lip I was nervous Noah would blow up on me.
Letting out a sigh, he looked back at where his friend entered the building with his girlfriend, "I won't tell Nick—we won't tell him until you are ready, deal?" nodding my head in agreement, Noah smiled wonderfully at me as he nodded his head in return. "Fae, even if you and I aren't acting like it, I am considering this our second date" he winked before walking beside me towards the building.
My mouth opened a little, I felt shy all of a sudden. "If I knew that, I would have dressed better and put more effort into myself" Noah looked me over once more.
"I stand by the fact you look beautiful" was all he said before we entered and found our group sitting where we sat last time.
Sliding in beside Jamie, Noah sat across from me once more. Glancing at the bar, I saw the waiter from last time smiling in our direction, his eyes already on me. "Oh, look who remembers you!" Nick smiled widely as Cory made his way over to us assuming to take our drink orders.
"Welcome back, how are you guys tonight?" he asked readying is pen and paper.
"We are good!" Nick said smiling at the man in front of us.
His eyes slid to me as I could feel embarrassment radiating off of me.
Cory smiled down at me, remembering the nightmare I went through last time I was here. "Are we expecting anyone else tonight" he asked looking down at me.
Seeing amusement burn in Noah's eyes, he was enjoying this. Smirking I looked up at Cory as I placed my elbow on the table, propping myself up as I blinked a few times, "just me tonight—had to accompany my brother on his date, he might be a little nervous of messing up with how stunning his girlfriend and my best friend is" I winked looking at Jamie her smile glowing as Nick burned with embarrassment, already regretting bringing me along.
"Oh cool, well—maybe this time if I give you my number, we can go out sometime" Cory said.
Feeling Noah shift as he looked at Cory, I felt myself grow nervous. "She would love that" Nick smiled before looking at Cory, "I also would love a hamburger with fries" he said handing Cory the menu once he jotted it down.
Once we all had placed our food order, I glared at Nick as Cory walked away to place the order, "what the fuck, Nick!" I growled through my whisper, both Jamie and Noah looking between us. "I don't need you setting me up with random people, I don't even know the guy!" I fought back.
"That's why you get to know him, Faith. . . That is how you get to know people, you know?" he teased me right back.
Fighting the urge to glance at Noah, I rolled my eyes at him. "No, Nick I don't want to date—I'm not ready" but I was ready to date, and I was seeing his best friend, even if we weren't officially dating.
Nick furrowed his brows but before he could open his mouth, our food was being placed down in front of us. "So, end of night I can text you if you'd like" Cory said handing his number to me before turning back towards where he was being called from.
Not feeling so hungry anymore, I slid the number in my purse making a mental note to toss it out later—I was sure he was a nice guy, but I didn't want to put effort into anything right now especially with how my last relationship turned out.
Pushing fries around on my plate, as the others spoke about stuff, I felt Noah glance at me before excusing himself to go to the bar. Feeling my phone vibrate, I pulled out the small box to see who it was, making sure it wasn't my work telling me the video I had done was to be rejected.
Noah: You need to eat Fae, eat some food, and enjoy the night with me. I promise to make it worth your while.
Knowing Nick was watching me, I fought the blush and the urge to look at the bar where Noah stood. Sliding the phone into my purse, I knew Noah was watching from the bar where he stood sipping on a drink the bartender handed him. Taking a few bites of my fries, I felt my phone buzz once more, glancing at the screen I caught a glimpse of his reply.
'Good girl' read the text message making me scream internally inside—no man has ever had this kind of reaction on me, not even my ex.
Noah returned to the table and I sat quietly eating my food before we ventured off into the arcade area, aiming for mini golf. "Is not a horrible time to tell you I suck at mini gold?" I joked earning a laugh from the others.
"Noah, teach her" Nick said. Looking at us, I could feel Noah grow nervous as he looked at his friend, "come on, it's not like you're going to run away in the middle of the night with my sister, show her" Nick gestured to where I stood.
Noah nodded his head, standing behind me he leant down, so he was more my height as he turned his head away from Nick as he whispered. "You look beautiful Fae, and I know Nick is going to question me if I get closer so I have to remain focused on the fact I am teaching you, even if I would like nothing more then to show you how I would love to cherish this second date" his whisper sent chills down my spine as she showed me the movements of golf.
We got around a bit, surprisingly I managed to beat them all at golf, Nick complaining that it was just beginners' luck and me reminding him he was a sore loser. We sat playing air hockey for a bit when a tray of drinks appeared in front of me at the table Jamie and I sat. "We didn't order drinks?" Looking up I saw Cory standing there, a smile on his face.
"On the house, let me know if you need anything" he winked before heading back to the bar.
Jamie accepted the drink I pushed away from me hoping Cory didn't see it. Sipping from the drink she smirked, "he likes you—to bad he has no clue" she hummed sipping more of the drink.
"No, and Jamie don't tell anyone" I reminded my friend who nodded her own head, "I mean it—we want to take this slow; I want to make sure I don't mess things up and. . . " I said pointing my chin in the direction where Noah stood with my brother playing their game.
"Faith, relax, I won't tell Nick about it—you need to have a bit more faith in me" she winked as she leaned back.
Once it was around closing time, we gathered our things and headed towards the door. "So, about that date one time?" Cory asked as we began passing the bar.
"You know, I think she might pass dude. . ." Nick stopped beside me as Jamie widened her eyes, "she is my baby sister so I get a say on who I think would be great, and tonight you seemed like a lost puppy with its tail between its legs trying to make sure she paid attention to you and not her friends she was out with, so I am sorry but no she will not be getting back to you" he said before marching past me.
Cory seemed confused as he opened his mouth, "he seems like a jackass, I think you can make your own mind up" he said throwing a towel over his shoulder.
Mouth slightly open, I shook my head before a laugh escaped my throat. "You know, I did consider it even after what he said to you, but you calling my brother a jackass kind of turns me away, goodbye Cory" I said not giving him the chance to even call after me.
Noah. in step beside me, the smile of amusement on his face. "I think that was the hottest thing I ever seen" he chuckled as we caught up with my brother and Jamie.
The car ride home was nice, all of us joking about how I beat Nick's ass at golf.
Once home, I went downstairs knowing Jamie and Nick were going to watch movies in his room, tossing my phone down on the bed I heard a knock from my doorway.
Turning I smiled knowing it was already Noah down here to see me, stepping into my room he closed the door behind himself.
"I wasn't going to agree with the date, if you were worried about what I said before we left" I rushed out remembering the sentence I had said to Cory before we had left.
"I'm not worried, Fae, it's okay" he said softly as he stepped closer. "So, this is our second date—was it good enough to ear a third one?" he asked looking me up and down slowly as if silently worshipping what he saw.
Gulping I stepped closer to Noah, heart thundering beneath my ribs I leaned up on my toes pulling his shirt closer to me as I pulled him down for a kiss, already on my toes I felt him melt beneath my touch as his hand slid around my waist to hold me in place, as if silently praying I never backed away—the way I also prayed for that as well. Once we were out of breath, I pulled away inches still from his lips as my thumb traces the outline of his bottom lip, a small smile tugged the corner of my mouth as I looked into the deep brown eyes. "You tell me" I whispered in the air between us.
Noah dipped his head back down, lips on my own once more as his hands roamed my back feeling the warmth of his touch on my exposed back sent lightning through my body, everything about this felt right.
"Only if it's not like tonight" I said pulling away from him long enough to catch some more air.
Standing up, his cheeks were flushed, and I could tell he was resisting the urge to continue no matter how badly we both wanted to. "I promise the next one is going to be the best one yet" he said before getting into my bed and patting the pillow beside him, "come on, let's watch some shows together" he said with a smile.
I could get used to this.
