Authors Note: Limits has now hit the milestone of 9k reads, it still blows me away that you all truly would take time out of your date to read this story, so thank you—I truly mean it, thank you. If you also aren't following me, feel free to do so, I post regularly about updates for Limits, and we even have a new Noah Sebastian story called Said & Done which is a fun story which features both Bad Omens and Ice Nine Kills. I am working on that story and my friend @anonymousDND is working on hers as well, both super fun<3
These were the longest two weeks of my life—after the date with Noah we both had become extremely busy with work—Noah would go on to help his friends produce music, and visiting some friends who were in town, Nick going with him and Jolly as well. By the time they'd get home most nights me and Jamie would be in bed already, unable to greet them from their daily adventure, but they knew we would if we weren't so busy. Work had felt like hell for me lately, sending off emails as fast as I could to my manager as well as doing my best to edit videos I needed to publish all of it becoming super stressful once my videos were also deemed not worthy of being posted but that was life sometimes it couldn't always be easy. "I never thought I would say this, but I miss our dumb ass boyfriends" Jamie said loud—it was only her and I at the house, so she didn't mind her volume. Plopping herself on the sofa in my office as she chewed on some fruit.
"Noah isn't my boyfriend" I corrected her for what felt like the millionth time, we never agreed to it yet—and it felt wrong to claim something like that if we were unsure, it wasn't that I didn't want him to be my boyfriend it was the fact I wanted to be asked out, or asked to be his girlfriend properly, after my ex I just didn't want to rush things too fast and for what Noah and I had right now I was more then comfortable with it.
Jamie shrugged her shoulders, pushing her hair over her shoulder as she sat back in the seat, "oh come on—you two would be the cutest things in the world, I am sure Nick would agree" she said trying to bring up my brother.
Eyes leaving my screen as I looked at my best friend, she had that grin on her face which learning about her meant she was teasing me. "Jamie, unless you want to be planning Noah's funeral or even my own—we keep this to ourselves right now" I reminded her for what also felt like the millionth time once more.
Checking her phone she smiled as she hopped up, "Nick is actually done work for now, he told me to be ready he said he is taking me out on a date" she seemed so excited as she glanced at herself in the mirror to make sure she was ready and appeared how she wanted to be. Jamie never had to worry about how she looked, she was stunning no matter what and my brother surely agreed with that.
"Have fun!" I smiled at her as I sat back in my seat, "I haven't heard from Noah since yesterday morning, they must be super busy" chewing my lip as my eyes slid to my phone that sat beside me on the desk.
"He has plans, don't you worry" she smiled before exiting the office.
What did she mean by that? Shrugging off her comment, I got back to editing and trying to calm down a manager who was highly discouraged that one of the videos they were doing wasn't approved right away—it felt like I was stuck in the middle of a storm being circled. Hearing the front door open as Nick hollered for Jamie, she cheered as she ran down the stairs to him, the door closing shortly after.
It pained me a bit knowing I couldn't be like that yet, or ever could be like that. When I was with my ex, I thought I had it all at the start but once those pretty walls started coming down and the darkness started creeping in, everything changed drastically. Noah was sweet, kind and caring, it pained me knowing I couldn't be that open at the start, that I couldn't be like Nick was with Jamie and how I needed to hide this from my own brother, Noah didn't deserve that so the fact he stuck around always blew my mind.
Hours must have passed, a knock on my office door had my eyes peeling away from my screen long enough to blink and realize how dry they felt from being on the screen all day. Noah stood there with a bag of food in his hand, leaning against the door with a smile on his face. "You look cute when you are focused" he said straightening himself before taking a seat across from me at the desk.
Blush creeping on my cheeks, I sat back looking at the man who sat in front of me. "You're back? When did you get back?" furrowing my brows trying to remember if I heard the front door open, I must have been so focused to not hear anyone come in.
"I just got back, it was a late session today" he said pulling out two containers from the brown bag. "I figured you'd be working; Jamie did mention when I saw her and Nick before their party you were still in here—work that bad today?" he asked looking at the time on his phone.
Accepting the small container of food from him I nodded my head. "This last week has been a nightmare, first stuff gets lost in the void and then the people who wanted a edited video said they loved it only then to tell us right before publishing that it wasn't good enough anymore and it's just one mess after another, you know" he nodded his head listening. "How was the studio? Did you guys have fun?" I loved hearing about their times in the studio, even when I was younger I used to hang out in the basement with them while they recorded and everything.
"It's been good, a lot of messing around right now but I think they got a solid base down for it now, so I won't be needed as much in the meantime" he chewed his food "I missed you, I am sorry I haven't seen you and hardly messaged" his voice soft as his brown eyes met mine.
Smiling at him I shook my head, "there is nothing to be sorry about Noah, we are adults and we both have work that makes us busy. . . Plus, Jamie had fun teasing me that we were dating" he chuckled at that, "I kept reminding her that we were only seeing one another right now" my heart felt heavy at that.
"Well, I do have a surprise for you—our next date in fact, it's this weekend and you need to come up with an excuse to throw Nick off your trail" Noah said pushing his food around.
Furrowing my brows I placed my food container on my desk in front of me. "What do you mean? Why?" what was he planning that required me to make sure Nick didn't notice?
Noah's smile was like a drug I didn't want to get enough of. "I have a trip planned for us, I already got our tickets and accommodations sorted so all you need is your passport and to tell Nick you have work business" Noah seemed so proud of himself telling me that.
Heart racing at the thought I nodded my head. "Oh. . . Okay, where are you planning on taking us?" the question I wanted to know—would this be something people usually planned together? When it came to this stuff I was uneducated since my ex was never like this with me.
"That's a surprise, it'll be for the weekend, so we leave late Thursday" that was in three days. "I told you this was going to be our best one yet" he winked before chatting about music and how writing was going—my mind replayed his words though. This was going to be the best one yet.
