anatomy of broken bone

13 3 5

fingers rolling against keys, electricity speeding down through nerves and sending minds alight

chapped lips spilling words and excuses for lies that follow the turns of the night

toes seeking comfort, heads tilting back to soak in the hysteria and kaleidic glow

all to come crashing down to mindless work and sepia shows

frosted breath, petrichor sparkling on dewy, after-wispy leaves

chasing away the harsh, burning light that crashes down on your dreams

into ash, carried far away, far away, high above mountains and below river brooks

to remind you of the days that fly by and all the time you took

from my starved, bleeding heart and gushing retinas, spilling vision

like water from the heavens, speeding for atomic collision

in mind-splintering pieces the world rains and rages

stories hidden behind walls and childhood memories tucked into cages

fairies mumble secrets in my ears while lies spill from my lips

candles leaving trails of smoke among the stars, drained to their wicks

i wish it weren't true, I wish skin could be peeled back to reveal something new

i wish it weren't true, I wish it weren't true

Me

                   and

                                           you.
