(I saw an art concept and it inspired me to make this story.)

Young Ember was nervous about her first day of school. She wasn't too sure she was gonna make friends because there was not too many fire elements there.

Bernie: Ember.

She looked at her father.

Bernie: I know you're scared. Believe me, I'm not so sure about this either. But it is rules, here.

She squirmed and hid behind her Ashva.

Ember: Please don't make me go, Ashva.

Bernie looked at his daughter and smiled.

Bernie: Ember. I know it's tough, but I al so know that you are strong and brave. You burn the brightest out of all of us. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Ember felt a little more confident.

Ember: Ok. I love you, Ashva.

Bernie: I love you too, my little light.

Ember skipped off.

Bernie still felt a little scared, but he trusted his daughter.

Ember went down the hallway. Down to her first class.

She saw a bunch of other kids staring and murmuring.

"Is that a fire girl?"

"They look more scary up close."

"Hope she doesn't burn the whole place down."

"I bet she will if she's not careful."

Ember got more nervous as she made it to her desk.

"Alright students. Take your seats."

A big air elemental with glasses and a big moustache came into the room.

"I am Mr. Fairweather. I will be your teacher today. But first I would like to take today to get to know you kids. Would anyone like to go first?"

A water kid raised his hand.

"Hi. I'm Wade Ripple, and I'm planning on being a city inspector someday."

Ember looked at the kid in yellow overalls.

"Oh please. He's such a wimp."

One of the kids whispered.

Mr. Fairweather: Clint, I heard that.

Ember got more nervous as it approached her turn.

Ember: Hi, I'm Ember Lumen. And I'm going to be running my family's shop someday.

Mr. Fairweather: That's very nice, Ember. Now, I'd you kids and draw what you imagine your future to look like.

They all got out papers and crayons.

Ember got to work on drawing her parents shop.

All of a sudden, the bully, Clint Earthwood, came by and knocked her cup of crayons over on purpose.

Clint: Oops, I'm sorry. How clumsy of me, freak.

Ember growled.

Clint: Uh oh, is someone angry? Watch it, Lumen. You don't wanna blow your top.

Wade: Leave her alone, Clint.

Clint: Aw, did I hurt your girlfriend's feelings, Ripple?

Wade blushed.

"Yeah, why should you even care about these monsters, Wade?"

Mr. Fairweather: Clint, that is enough! If I catch you again, I will not hesitate to send you to the office. Back to your seat!

Clint grumbled.

Ember felt sad.

Wade: I'm sorry for what they said.

Ember sniffled.

After class, Mr. Fairweather asked Ember and Wade to his desk.

Mr. Fairweather: I'm sorry for the way those kids acted. But I'm also proud of the way you handled yourselves. I wondered if it would be okay for you to take the table next to my desk. Just so you don't have to go more of that.

Ember and Wade both nodded. After class, they both walked down that hall. Wade was nervous to start a conversation, but before he could say anything, someone hit him.

Ember: Wade!

Clint: Back off, fire girl! You don't wanna be part of this!

Ember was scared.

Wade was on the ground.

Clint: You made a fool out of us, Ripple. Imma gonna teach you a lesson.

He held out a sponge.

Wade: No! Please don't!

Clint held the sponge closer to Wade.

Ember began to get angry and she to grow larger.

Ember: BACK AWAY FROM HIM! RIGHT NOW!

They all got scared and ran off.

Ember stood in front of Wade in a defensive stance. She touched the sponge and it burned into ashes.

Wade looked at her, impressed.

Ember looked back at him.

Ember: I'm sorry. I won't hurt you.

Wade: Thank you. You saved me.

Ember: Dad says I'm not supposed to trust Water. But I think you're nice.

Wade: It's okay. Nobody's nice to me, either.

Ember then had to leave.

Ember: Okay. Bye.

Wade: Wait.

Ember looked at him.

Wade: Will I see you again?

Ember: I shouldn't say yes. But I won't.

Wade: Wait, is that a yes or no?

Ember giggled.

Ember: Don't worry. We'll see each again.

Ember went back home, thinking about Wade's kindness and smiling.

Who would've known that years later, their relationship would bloom like a vivisteria?
