I emptied another bag and searched through it.

Oh, this must be the shirt I was wearing earlier.

It's covered in blood and dirt.

I walked over to the sink and grabbed the Zote soap bar, scrubbing the red stain out.

"Hm hm hm." I hummed a little tune as I scrubbed.

Then I paused.

I glanced behind and found Ghost leaning against the door way of the laundry room.

"Lieutenant, sir." I turned to face him and the soap slipped onto the floor.

He glanced at the bar of soap and then back at me.

"Excuse me."

I turned and picked it up.

"Hmm."

"I'm sorry?" I looked back at him confused.

"Nothing. How's it going in here?" He walked in and looked around.

"One last bag to go, sir."

"Make sure you get to bed before curfew this time."

"Of course, sir."

"As you were." I nodded and went back to scrubbing.

After a minute, I looked over my shoulder again.

Ghost was still staring at me, arms crossed and leaning against the door frame.

He raised an eyebrow at me and I slowly turned back to my dirty shirt.

This is so weird.

I got the last of the blood out and after examining the clothes, I put it to wash, pulled the clothes out of the dryer, folded it, pulled the clothes out of the washer and in to the dryer and repeat.

I sighed as I finished the last load.

I put away the uniforms and turned to Ghost. He was sitting on a crate, playing with a switchblade and watching me.

"I'm done, sir."

"Are you now?"

Huh?

"Yes sir."

"Hmm..."

His eyes trailed down my body and I glanced down at myself.

I was wearing my army pants and a grey shirt. Nothing out of the ordinary.

He looked me in the eyes again and stared silently.

"Is there something else you need me to do?"

He sighed as he stood up and walked up to me, stopping only when the tips of our boots touched.

He glanced at his watch and looked around.

"Hmm."

I stayed silent.

"You still have an hour till curfew. I didn't expect you to be this fast."

"Thank you sir."

"That wasn't a compliment, be quiet. I'm thinking."

"Sorry sir."

"Don't you know what be quiet means?"

I didn't respond and he looked around. I stared at his chest which was face to face with me.

This dude is huge.

I'm 5'2, he's 6'4.

I feel helpless against him.

Well, I definitely am.

It's better not to say anything though.

I glanced up at him and he was looking down at me.

Can I talk yet?

"Do you deserve to rest and talk with the rest of your teammates?"

Huh?

"You have attitude, you know that?"

"...I'm sorry, sir."

"Even the way you apologize is sarcastic."

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to-"

"Stop apologizing so much. It's getting on my nerves. Just shut up. Follow me."

He turn and I followed him and he unlocked his office.

"Sit." He pointed at the chair in front of his desk and sat behind his desk.

I sat and gulped.
