(y/n)'s POV:

"What do you mean I can't invite Sparrow to the True Hearts Day dance?!" I was busy planning the party with Cupid and Briar when they dropped this bombshell on me.

"He's friends with Duchess Swan and she's the biggest gossip ever after. She'll definitely tell Headmaster Grimm," Briar explains.

"So because the guy I'm literally destined to be with hangs out with someone who runs her mouth, I don't get to spellabrate a day about love with him?" I cross my arms, my voice raising with each word.

"We would invite him, (y/n), but we can't risk him telling Duchess where the dance is," Cupid lays her hand on my shoulder.

"This is royally unfair!" I exclaim, glaring at two of my closest friends.

"It's nothing against you or Sparrow, (y/n)," Briar says as she goes back to ordering heart-shaped cakes.

"Oh really? It certainly feels like it," I roll my eyes, "You don't know if Sparrow will even tell Duchess!"

"We don't want to take that risk," Cupid had a look of guilt in her eyes. This entire conversation was just going in circles now.

"Come on. (y/n), let's just finish ordering stuff," Briar coaxes.

"Fine, but only because I don't want you two to drown in preparations," I sigh angrily before going back to work. How could they do this? They're inviting everyone but the guy I like and the school snitch, my head races with guilt. Do I even want to be a part of this if it means hurting Sparrow?

Before long, Cupid, Briar, and I hurried down to the main hall to meet the delivery goose before Headmaster Grimm could find him. Right as we got there, the goose slammed into the tile floor, glitter and confetti shooting into the air. The goose then stood up as if nothing had happened and honked.

"I got party supplies! C.A. Cupid!" he honks. Cupid sprints over to him.

"I'm Cupid! That's me," she startles the poor delivery goose.

"Just sign here," the goose honks as he holds up a piece of parchment. Cupid signs before noticing a figure looming over her.

"Party supplies?" Headmaster Grimm questions as Cupid gasps.

"Why, yes, party supplies, um, for-" Cupid tries to come up with a lie.

"Our play," Briar, Hopper, and I run over to help Cupid. We all have suspiciously nervous smiles on our faces as we nod in agreement.

"And what exactly is the name of this play?" the headmaster asks. We all struggle for a moment to come up with a name and Hopper turns into a frog.

"It's called 'The Play That Almost Was and Then Wasn't but Then Was," Hopper said regally. Headmaster Grimm stares at Hopper for a moment, trying to tell if he was lying.

"Very well," he finally says. Hopper sighs in relief.

Collecting the supplies, we sneak out of the castle to bring them to the party venue. We walk through Book End, random people staring at us curiously. Briar was up to her neck in streamers while Cupid had boxes of heart-shaped confetti. I myself had about three hundred heart-shaped balloons and a tank of helium. Cupid opened the door to the event hall and we entered, setting down everything we were carrying.

"Alright, Briar, time to work your magic!" Cupid claps her hands excitedly. "We'll be back, we just need to get the cakes."

Cupid and I hurry back to the school to meet the delivery goose once again. We run into Hopper, who is thankfully no longer a frog, and he offers to help us bring the cakes to Book End. Unfortunately, Headmaster Grimm was there as soon as our delivery arrived.

"And you're telling me all these heart-shaped cakes are for your play?" the headmaster asked as he eyed the stacks suspiciously. Cupid, Hopper, and I all agree while nodding our heads.

"They're for the really funny scene where (y/n) throws them at Hopper!" Cupid grabs a cake.

"Excuse me?" Hopper asks with a nervous expression.

"Oh, yeah," I smile innocently, "It's such a funny scene." I walk over and take the cake from Cupid. "I just wind up and," I say as I throw the cake directly into Hopper's face. Hopper licks some of the frosting off his face before giving the headmaster a thumbs up.

"Very well," Headmaster Grimm says before walking away. Cupid and I breathe a sigh of relief.

"(y/n)?" a voice says from behind me. I immediately tense as I turn around to see Sparrow, a look of hurt on his face. "You're planning this dance that no one will tell me where it is?"

"Sparrow, it's not like that," I go to place a hand on his shoulder but he turns away. "I-I want to, but Cupid and Briar won't let me 'cause of Duchess."

"We're destiny, (y/n), shouldn't that matter more than Duchess?" he crosses his arms. I'm silent for a moment before I look back at Cupid. She gives a sigh before motioning for me to go with Sparrow.

"You're right," I say, wrapping my arms around Sparrow's torso. "I'm sorry," I say into his chest. He lets out a breath before wrapping his arms around me as well. I look up at him and he smiles, placing a small kiss on my forehead causing my cheeks to turn pink. I turn around in his arms, looking at Cupid. "I'm sorry, but I think I need to resign from party planning," I smile.

"I know," Cupid says. "And I'm sorry for keeping you two apart when I should be bringing you together." She and Hopper collect the cake boxes before once again leaving for Book End. Sparrow buries his face in my (h/c) hair, just holding me for a moment.

"We'll go back to my dorm?" he offers. I turn, giving him a soft kiss on the lips.

"I'd like that," I smile.
