Emma took the cup of tea from Rose as she sat down beside the Doctor at the console. He smiled at Emma and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. They weren't doing anything in particular right now; going nowhere and doing nothing but floating around in space for the meantime. The Doctor and Emma were catching Rose and Mickey up on the adventures they'd missed out on.
"And that weird munchkin with the big eyes! Do you remember?" the Doctor asked Emma with a laugh.
"How can I forget?" Emma shook her head.
"The way she looked at you! And then she opened her mouth and fire came out!" he exclaimed.
"I would've been burned to hell if I was human!" Emma laughed.
"Yeah, the one minute she's standing there and the next--"
"RAWR!" the Doctor and Emma growled together.
They were so silly, so goofy, but so happy. They were officially that type of couple that irritated other people with their sweetness but fascinated them with how in sync the two were. Rose laughed and smiled at seeing her best friend the happiest she'd ever seen Emma. Mickey, on the other hand, was confused.
"Where was that then? What happened?" he asked.
"Oh, it was on this uh... this planet thing," the Doctor waved a hand. "Asteroid. It's a long story, you had to be there," he quickly finished before noticing what Mickey was doing. "Uh, what are you doing that for?"
"Cause you told me to," Mickey replied.
Rose glanced at her boyfriend, who was holding one of the TARDIS's buttons down, she then shared a look with Emma. The two girls trying so hard not to burst out laughing, which ended up with them only smiling in amusement. Mickey was such a gullible idiot sometimes.
"When was that?" the Doctor asked.
"About half an hour ago," Mickey said.
"Um..." the Doctor stared down at Mickey's hand. "You can let go now."
A small laugh escaped Emma as Mickey pulled his hand back and a small sound emitted from the TARDIS. Rose silently giggled, keeping her head down and hiding her smile.
"Well, how long has it been since I could've stopped?" Mickey asked.
The Doctor shook his head.
"Ten minutes. Twenty? Twenty-nine?" he answered, at least having the decency to sound a little guilty about it.
"You just forgot me!" Mickey exclaimed.
"No, no, no. I was just, I was, I was calibrating. I was just... No, no. I know exactly what I'm doing," the Doctor nodded confidently.
Suddenly something exploded and the entire TARDIS shook out of control. Sparks flew in every direction as the Doctor, Emma, Rose, and Mickey landed up on the floor on their backs. The Doctor was up in seconds as he leaned his elbows down on the console, his eyes wide and in a panic. Emma darted her eyes to the side to make sure Rose and Mickey were okay before she appeared beside the Doctor with a hand against the edge of the console.
"What just happened?" she asked.
"The time vortex is gone," the Doctor replied as he pulled levers and pressed buttons frantically. "That's impossible. It's just gone," he muttered.
The TARDIS spun, swayed, and fell in every way possible as they crashed through time and space.
"Brace yourselves! We're going to crash!" the Doctor shouted.
