The only reason Ruby became friends with me was because I liked her brother. It was the first thing that she knew about me. Minami was the one to tell her despite me begging her not to. We didn't talk much afterward though, it was just super awkward after Minami told me she let it slip. I mostly avoided both Ruby and Aqua at all costs, even though I had the same classes as her. With dumb luck, she caught me at some convenience store and confronted me about it. She said despite me adamantly denying it, my face was beet red and it gave it away. The next couple days after that were a little weird, since she kept trying to hang out with me and went out of her way to find me in between classes.

It was definitely a surprise when I asked her about it and she replied with how she thought her brother needed people to interact with and that he was a loner. My dumbass took a whole week to figure out that she was actually encouraging me to go talk with Aqua, but it's been nearly a month and I still haven't. I just freeze up and get too flustered to do or say anything properly so I just shut up so that I don't say anything stupid. Ruby's teased me a couple times before of how shy I get around Aqua since she says that he thinks I'm just usually quiet. Though, those were only the times when he's passed by or just said a quick hello to her. We've never had an interaction lasting longer than ten seconds. Which is why I really want Minami to answer my texts.

Sitting in front of me was Aqua, sipping a cup of tea. Ruby had completely misled me and told me that we were just hanging out at her studio for a little bit before her practice, intentionally leaving out the part about Aqua's presence. The other girls from B Komachi were here too, though they weren't particularly on my mind at the moment. "Why are you so quiet? You usually talk Minami and I's ears off during school," Ruby nudged my arm. I sent her a subtle glare. She already introduced all of us to each other so all she's been doing the past couple minutes is trying to get me to engage with them. "Aw, are you shy 'cause you're in front of a bunch of pretty girls?" Mem teased, leaning on top of the couch behind me. "Nah, they have horrible taste in girls." Ruby leaned on me, looking at something on her phone. "I could say the same for you," I mumbled under my breath, getting a jab in the stomach from her.

The tea in my cup swirled as I held it up, the steam visible. I feel like a little kid getting a little happy at the thought that Aqua was the one who made it, even though it was for everyone. "Ruby said that you're also an influencer?" Aqua asked. I felt my face get a little flush. I nodded with a "mhm". "Oh, really? What's your handle? I've never seen you before," Mem said, showing me her phone. "Oh, here," I typed in my username, seeing that she was already following me. "Oh my gosh, you're that song writer?" I nodded again watching her scroll through some of my posts. "Song writer?" Kana asked, getting up to look at my profile. "Shy guy over here's been writing songs since middle school, he even sang a couple too. I'm pretty sure you ghost wrote a couple popular ones too, right?" Ruby grabbed my shoulders like she was displaying me to them.

"Only two of them got published into real songs, the others are just some one liners and stuff," I said.

"Oh, which ones?" Kana asked.
"A-Ah, I can't really say since I signed an NDA..."

"That makes sense, though I guess you've got some nice gigs in the industry if they got published at all. I heard it's pretty hard for song writers these days."

"Yeah, though since I've gotten more popular online on my own, it's definitely helped," I smiled, about to say more but I caught myself. My pride wouldn't let Ruby succeed in whatever plan she and Minami had concocted. She definitely noticed though and nudged me again. "Maybe you could help write some songs for us," Kana suggested. I paused.

Is this why she invited me??

"Ah, I don't think I can," I fiddled with the edge of my shirt anxiously. "My manager's pretty busy and I dunno if my company would allow it since they're pretty uptight." "What's your company? Strawberry Productions might have some connections," Aqua interjected, looking directly at me. My face got a little hot again but I quickly looked away to the cup of tea he was holding. "It's my parents' company, so they're a little picky when it comes to contracts and stuff." I took a sip of the tea to hide the fact I was flustered from just a simple question. "Aw, well I'm sure if you really want to they might say yes," Ruby patted my back. She was about to say something else but then Kana interrupted. "Ah! It's almost time for practice, we should go over now."
