THE THREE MONTH CHECK UP WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN A BIG DEAL TO MOST PEOPLE, but for Diana it was the moment that proved to her that everything was real. She would be weighed, the baby would be checked over, but the most important thing was hearing the baby's heartbeat. That, for Diana, was the only thing that she wanted to know and hear, the baby had a heart, it was there, inside of her, with a beating heart.

Waiting outside the hospital wing, Diana waited for James to arrive. She wondered how James would possibly react, would he be happy to hear the baby's heartbeat?

Diana couldn't deny that James and the other marauders had stuck to their word. They were there for her, constantly, to the point that she couldn't get away. They always seemed to know where she was, every time she turned a corner one of them was making sure she and the baby was okay. Some people would fine it overbearing, annoying even, but Diana couldn't help but feel loved, she found it endearing that these people cared about her and the baby.

Waiting outside, tapping her foot slightly, not wanting to be late for the appointment, Diana waited for James.

Hearing footstep, Diana turned her head to see James running towards her. "I'm here, I'm here. Merlin fuck I'm out of breath." He said, bending over as if he'd just run a marathon.

"Aren't you meant to be fit? Considering you're the quidditch captain and you know, muscular." Diana muttered the last part as James smirked.

"Muscular ey? I knew you'd been checking me out recently Marlowe, now you just confirmed it. But to answer your question, I am fit, the stairs just seem to like to move whenever I get on them to the opposite direction I want to go. It's almost as if the building is trying to get back at me for all the pranks." James said, slightly over exaggerated.

"Sure, Potter, whatever you say." Diana laughed, pushing the door open to the hospital wing, seeing Madam Pomfrey stood at her desk.

"Ah there you are, Miss Marlowe, I was beginning to think you weren't going to arrive." Madam Pomfrey said, smiling at the girl, before noticing James following behind her. "Mr Potter, I'm sorry I didn't know you were coming. Well this is a delightful surprise, come dear have a seat on one of the beds and Mr potter feel free to sit on one of the chairs next to it."

The pair did as the mediwitch said, with Diana sitting on one of the beds and James in the chair next to the young girl.

"Now, dear, please lift up your shirt for when I get back, just to above your stomach just so I can check everything with the baby is fine. "

When Madam Pomfrey asked this, both James and Diana felt nervous and little awkward. James had yet to see Diana's baby bump, which indicated that they were expecting a child. An outsider couldn't tell Diana was pregnant because there was no bump visible when she wore her robes, especially since she had recently tried to wear as much oversized stuff as possible, but other than that, she didn't have a big bump yet, she almost just looked slightly bloated, or so she told herself when she got dressed in front of her mirror in the morning.

James took in his breath as he lifted her top, there was a bump there, a very tiny bump, but there. He was amazed; how could such a minor bump take his breath away so completely, almost making him cry? His baby was in there, not fully formed, but it was still there, and it was a new revelation for James, Diana was carrying that baby inside her, she would go through so much in those 9 months and James couldn't help but be thankful that she would be the mother, that someone with such a beautiful and kind soul would be the one to carry his baby, he would do everything to protect both of them.

"Wow," James breathed, staring at the curve of her stomach as Diana giggled.

"It doesn't look big, but makes me feel like a complete whale, you have no idea how hungry I am all the time, I feel like i've gained so muc weight." Diana told him, as James just stared at her.

"I think you look absolutely beautiful," he said to her, as she began turning red. James didn't realise how much of a beautiful thing pregnancy was, she was absolutely glowing, and he wanted to remind her of that. She was carrying their baby, not only was that a beautiful thing, but so was she, she was strong, and James couldn't help but be thankful and amazed at how her body could do that, he didn't fully appreciate it until this moment.

Madam Pomfrey had popped into her office whilst the two spoke, getting some paperwork and some phamplets on pregnancy for the pair. Coming over to the two when finished, she began doing some tests on the pregnant girl, making sure both she and the baby were healthy and ready for the next six months ahead of them

"Right then, you and the baby look completely healthy, the baby is currently the size of a large plum. The third month of your pregnancy is the month were you can relax a little just due to being at a slimmer risk of miscarriage. Now I will need you to take vitamins everyday as well as keeping on a healthy diet." James nodded along to everything, listening to her every word, he would do everything she said, just so Diana and the baby would be healthy and happy.

"Now, for the best part, listening to the heartbeat." Diana smiled widely nodding, she had been waiting for this moment. As Madam Pomfrey cast a spell above Diana's stomach, the paired stayed silent, anxiously waiting for the sound to arrive.

Thump, Thump, Thump.

"Holy shit," James said, swollowing the lump in his throat that seemed to have formed, practically holding back tears.

Diana couldn't hold back the tears, her hormones wouldn't allow it, tears streamed down her face.

James grabbed her hand, "that's our baby."

"Yeah, it is, our baby." Diana smiled, with James sending one right back.

"It has a good heart, just like you."
