"ARE YOU GOING TO HOGSMEADE THIS WEEKEND? IT'S THE FIRST ONE OF THE NEW YEAR." Speaking to Diana during supper was the young man, Alwyn Mcvern. Diana had known this sweet boy since her first year of school. They had never been close friends, but they had sat next to each other several times in class and Diana enjoyed talking to him because he listened to her and showed interest in what she had to say. It was comforting to know that someone cared about what Diana had to say, but that was all their friendship had ever amounted to.

"Oh I don't know Al, I'm not really feeling too great at the minute so I might sit this one out I think." Diana replied, smiling to the boy softly.

Diana acknowledged that her pregnancy was physically taxing her at the moment and that she didn't want to go to Hogsmeade unless it was with the girls or James, and she wasn't sure if they were going. Therefore, Diana decided that, for the time being, it might be best for her to stay back at Hogwarts, particularly in light of the Snape incident. Diana felt unsafe going anywhere by herself in case she ran into the Slytherins because she wouldn't be able to defend herself against them alone.

Alwyn just nodded at the girl beside him, "I understand Di, but I was wondering if you'd like to come with me, I don't like the idea of you being all by yourself in the castle while everyone else is out having a good time. Why don't you come with me, i'm not going with anyone else, it would be nice to have the company, i'll even buy you some sweets from Honeydukes, just as a thank you for coming with me."

Diana considered the situation: James hadn't spoken anything to her since boarding the train, and he had been acting strangely around her. Was he becoming distant from her? Had she made a mistake? Based on his behaviour, she assumed he wasn't interested in going to Hogsmeade with her this weekend. Perhaps it would be best to give him some space? Perhaps it would be enjoyable to go out and spend the day with a new person, to venture out and establish friendships with individuals she had known her whole Hogwarts experience but had never ventured out enough to do so.

Word of Diana's pregnancy had spread throughout the school since the incident involving Snape and the other Slytherins. It was the talk of the school, and every day it made Diana nervous. When she got off the train and walked through the great hall, she noticed the looks and heard the whispers, but she kept telling herself that it was a blessing that she was having a baby, regardless of what other people thought. After all, they would never understand the love you have for your child until they are in the position she was in.

"It's a very kind offer Al, but you've probably heard the whispers, I'm pregnant and I don't want to drag you into this by going to Hogsmeade with you, merlin knows what rumours people would come up with if they saw us both together," Diana said quietly, looking anywhere but in Alwyn's face. Did he know she was pregnant? She didn't know, and she didn't want to see his reaction.

"I've heard Di, I'm not going to judge you, in fact, I'm happy for you, you'll be a fantastic mother. Honestly, what's the worst rumour they're going to come up with, that I'm the father of your baby? Who cares? I'd be honoured that someone might think I'd be lucky enough to be the father of your kid. Just ignore them, let your hair down Diana, you deserve to enjoy yourself."

Diana was confused of what to do since she couldn't tell if Alwyn was only being nice or if he was asking her out on a date to Hogsmeade. When she considered going on a potential "date" with someone other than James, her heart couldn't help but tighten. What would James think? But for the time being, it was only a "date" of friendship, and Diana couldn't help but agree with Alwyn that she had to let her hair down. Since she realised that her chances of being able to do things like this in later months would be small, she decided to make the most of her pregnancy while she could, whether or not it was with James. She was only in her first few months of pregnancy. Since James seemed to have more hormones than Diana did at the moment, she couldn't wait for him to sit down and decide whether or not he liked her, whether he decided to talk to her the next day or not. She needed stability from James if they were going to parent together, so why couldn't she go out this weekend with a friend? She didn't need James' approval.

Diana just smiled at the boy, "Sure, I'll come to Hogsmeade with you this weekend, but I'm holding you to your promise of sweets from Honeydukes, you've made me start craving them now." She laughed softly, as Alwyn just chuckled. "Deal," He said, as they smiled at one another.

Diana could feel eyes on her as she looked over to the table opposite, where James sat, staring at her as she spoke to Alwyn. She smiled at him, unsure of what else to do, getting a small smile in reply.

"Who's that guy sat next to Diana?" James asked Sirius, who turned to look over at the table. Sirius just shrugged his shoulders as he turned back to his best friend, "Alwyn McVern, seems alright, never had any issues with him, why? Getting jealous?" He smirked, as James rolled his eyes.

"Just wanting to make sure she's okay that's all, you know after the incident." He muttered, once again looking at nothing other than the food on his plate, he knew what Sirius's face would look like and he was not in the mood for Sirius's games.

"Alright Romeo, we get it your in love with the girl, you're star-crossed lovers, we know, can we hurry up this whole thing as you just go and propose to her so I don't have to sit here looking at your heart eyes and drool for the next 5 fucking months."

James flipped his friend off with his middle finger, smiling sarcastically. Remus rolled his eyes, "Alwyn McVern is a really nice guy, but it has always been known that he's had a bit of a thing for Diana, he's always racing to go sit next to her in class, about fucking knocked me over one time pushing past me to get to the seat next to her. Diana's never shown any interest in him though, but she doesn't really see how beautiful she is so I'm pretty sure she's just clueless when it comes to boys liking her." Remus shrugged as if he hadn't said anything out of the ordinary, carrying on eating his food as normal, as James just stared at him.

"Do you think he's asking her out now, they seem to be in deep conversation?" Sirius asked, as both he and Remus turned to look at the Hufflepuff pair, trying to make out what they were saying.

"Will you two stop staring, you're making it obvious we're talking about her," he whispered, swatting them both on the arm, making them turn back to their friend.

"Think you better up your game, Prongs, it looks like you've got competition," Sirius smirked, knowing this would maybe give James the kick up the arse that he needed.

When James turned to face Diana, he saw that she was grinning at Alwyn in the same manner that she had grinned at him. He knew that he would never want her to smile in that way at someone else because she was his, he was hers, and the baby was theirs.
