Chapter 1

"Yo, back the hell up, girls can skateboard too, Stupid!"

Rose looked up from her book to see her son Salem shoving a preteen away from a girl around five or six that was on the ground holding her arm to her chest.

"Shut up Brat! Girls can't skate!" the preteen boy shouted at her son.

Rose stood and started hurrying over to the group of kids. "You're a fucking idiot!" Salem shouted standing in front of the girl. "Girls can do anything boys can do and sometimes even better! You're a fucking prick!"

"Whoa now, what is going on here?" A large group of men suddenly appeared just as Rose reached her son. "What happened, Sweet Pea?" the man with shoulder length blonde hair and brown eyes asked as he knelt by the girl.

"That meanie pushed me, Daddy," The girl whimpered. "But he—" she pointed at Salem, "saved me like you and yelled bad words at him."

"I'm Salem," Salem held out his hand. They could see that he had glittery dark blue nail polish on his nails. "This idiot tried saying girls can't skate but he's stupid."

"Well, thank you, Salem, I'm Luke," The man named Luke smiled as he shook his hand. "We heard what you said, and you are absolutely correct."

"Here," Salem knelt and pulled a band aid out of his pocket. "You can have it if you want. My mom makes me carry them just in case."

"Oh, so pretty," the girl's eyes lit up as he opened it to find it was a gradient of blue and purple. "Thank you. I'm Aurora."

"Well, glad you woke up from your nap to go skating, Princess," Salem winked at her making her giggle. "Can I help you learn? I can teach you some stuff if you want."

"Please?" Aurora said as she took a step away from Luke and the group of men. She turned back to them, "I'm fine Daddies, I promise."

Rose put her hand on Salem's shoulder, and he nodded at her. "I'm fine, Mom." He turned his brown eyes on Aurora, "Daddies?"

"Yep, all my daddies," she said proudly.

"That is so neat!" Salem smiled at her. "I just have my mom and my aunt."

"I'm Luke," Luke said holding his hand out to Rose.

Just then a white pit bull appeared next to Rose and Salem. Aurora squealed in excitement upon seeing the dog, "Daddies, that's Zeusy! You Miss Rosie!"

"That's correct," A woman smiled as she came up to them. Where Rose had hip length dark wavy hair and dark brown eyes, this woman had shoulder length blonde hair and bright blue eyes"And I am—"

"You Miss Sally!" Aurora bounced excitedly.

"Well, hello," Luke said as he reached out towards Zeus, but Aurora quickly yanked his hand back to her.

"No, no, no, Daddy! Zeusy working! Miss Rosie and Miss Sally say when Zeusy is outside he is working. He helps Miss Rosie. Helping dogs can't be petted. We don't pet working dogs," Aurora said holding Luke's hand to her chest while shaking her head.

"Oh, that's correct," Luke nodded, "thank you for letting me know."

"Where's his vest?" The man with black rimmed glasses and grey eyes asked. He was wearing a three-piece charcoal grey suit and a pale purple tie. "I'm Owen Blackbourne."

"It's right here," Sally said holding it up. "As soon as we got here, he saw her and took off towards her." She looked down at Aurora, "We are so happy to meet a fan. Miss Rosie and I are very proud of you for listening to our rules about Zeusy. If it is okay with your daddies, Miss Rosie can give you a treat to give to him as a thank you for not petting him."
