"What am I getting paid with?"
"You'll just have to wait and find out."
"I'm not very good at waiting. Not when it comes to you." He said.
"Clocks ticking." I teased. He gave my jawline one last kiss before he left me. I didn't move from the window, I just kept staring out at the woods, watching. I watched the sun rise higher in the sky, the trees blowing in the slight breeze and I watched as birds collected sticks and took them back to their nests. Just over five minutes later I walked around the island and over to Daniel. I smiled as I saw he was using the add-water-and-shake type pancake mixtures. Todd only used them as well. He always said they were made for people like him- people who didn't cook much. But he only made them that one time because he stuffed it up. It was pretty straight forward but yet he still managed to stuff it up. He could do cereal and milk but not much else. Daniel put an arm around my back.
"Come over to distract me to make sure you don't have to pay aye?" he said. I smiled.
"Of course." I said.
"Then here." He said and dragged his finger across my face. I blinked. His finger had something on it though. I raised my hand to my face and wiped it off. It was pancake mixture; there was a big blob of it on my hand. He looked at me and I dragged my hand down his face. The mixture ran down his face slowly. I could see the uncooked pancake mixture starting to set on his face. I laughed and raised my eyebrows at him. "Oh yeah?" he said.
"Oh yeah." I said.
"Whatever happens now is on you."
"On me? You started it!" I said playfully. What was he going to do? Tip a heap into his hand and put it on my face? He looked at me from the corner of his eye. I could sense he was about to move so when he did I moved back, out of his reach. He gave me a half smile and came at me again. This time though he caught my hand and bought me closer to him. I didn't expect him to do what he did next- he leaned his face closer to mine and started rubbing his cheek against mine, then he swapped and did it to the other side of my face, I was shocked into stiffness as he rubbed his pancake-caked cheeks over my face, like a cat would do. There were no word for how good it felt, but at the sometime it was a bit strange as no one does that. He pulled back from me but I still couldn't move. I stared straight ahead until I blinked a few moments later. I turned my gaze to Daniel to see him smiling like he was the king of the world, knowing I had not expected him to do such a thing. I opened my mouth then closed it as no words formed and my mind was completely blank.
"I think the word you're looking for beautiful, is sexy." He murmured in my ear when he leaned closer. All I could do was nod my head in agreement as that was exactly the word I was looking for. As he leaned away, I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his lips to mine for a few brief moments.
"Yes. Sexy is most definitely the word I was looking for because you are most definitely sexy." I whispered against his lips. I felt his body shudder against mine as I said the last part and when he reopened his eyes, they were black. I thought back to what Todd had said about the reasons behind your human eyes going black because of your wolf and how truly rare it was, and that the wolf must feel so strongly about the feeling that it overpowers your human self, which is very hard to do. I didn't think Daniel felt mad or threatened by me; otherwise I might not be still tightly wrapped in his arms, which only left that his wolf was feeling a human feeling so strong that he had to show me. What could he be feeling? Happiness? Sadness? I tried to think of another feeling that his wolf could be feeling and I couldn't think of one except a word starting with 'L'. I don't know why I thought he could be feeling that way towards me at this second, but I did. I knew it was rare for a wolf to show themselves through the human form and even when they are in wolf form, the human side was still in control, I had been told of how rare it was and it was happening to me, right in front of my eyes. I felt special, right at this moment, and why shouldn't I? I didn't know how long Daniel's wolf could stay in control of Daniel's body so I couldn't help myself, I had to stroke his face and play with his shaggy blonde-brown hair, for some unknown reason, as this could be the only time it ever happened and I was going to make sure I took full advantage of this moment. He growled softly when I tugged lightly at his hair again. I'm not sure why I tugged at his hair again but I did and the growl I received from his wolf wasn't a threatening one, more of a playful happy one. I smiled widely; happy with the response I received as I thought Daniel's wolf was feeling happiness and maybe even the 'L' word, which made my heart race faster. I placed my nose against his and played with his hair at the back of his neck as I thought about how I was surprised that I wasn't freaked out by the thought of him feeling the 'L' word towards me even though we had just met just over a week ago. I looked into his black eyes, feeling happiness as well which made my heart race faster. Daniel growled softly again and leaned into my lips. The kiss was slow and only lasted a few seconds but half way through it I felt him shudder again against my body and when he opened his eyes, they were back to their amazing blue colour. He stood there for a moment, completely in shock. He opened his mouth then shut it when no words came out, just like I did.
