If you don't care about the "lore" as some people would put it, or you have no idea what's being talked about, or you don't want to be spoiled about potential future things then this is not for you.

Everyone else, welcome, welcome. Please at least try to get comfy. If things go the way they should, we'll be here for at least awhile. Now then, let's start off with the bigger stuff. Like the world building.

The World of Powerful Love

Everything that has happened in the real world, has more or less happened there. Except for equal rights for gays and stuff, that hasn't happened yet. But I'm sure you don't want me to tell you about world history that happened in the real world when we're talking about a fictional universe, do you? Alright, let's start at the beginnings of the PWP and the people it consists of.

How People Started Wielding Powers

It was the Great Depression. We've all heard what that is, or will one day but I'm not the one who's going to teach you that, so we'll skip to the part that's important. It was about 1930, near the end of it and a ten year old boy was doing what boys at the time did. That is until he saw something. It was far in the future, likely during the 2000s, and he saw the most amazing things. Like the original iPhone, and simply just the fact that humanity made it through. That is, until he didn't. He ran up to his mom and told her what he saw. She, not knowing what powers were at the time, called it "a blessing from God". They proceeded to share with others what he saw, and soon everyone was turning to him for any and all types of advice. In fact, he was payed pretty well for his services. It was because of him that they were able to get out of it, but he did not live to see the end of WWII. It's currently unknown what he died from, but the last thing he did with his powers was to tell the president to stay for another term.

Things weren't all sunshine and rainbows though. People tried to use or manipulate him, some called him a "fraud" because he said something they didn't like. There were others with powers at the time, spread across the world, and no one knows how one gets powers. No one still does, despite how much technology has changed since. Anyways, because of this, people made comic book superheros to poke fun at those with powers. That's why calling a PWP any one of the various famous superheros, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and most others. Spiderman is more on the controversial side, since the original is said to be "based on a true story", but since there's now so many it's starting to become inappropriate to.

But yeah, basically everything stays the same but with the PWP alongside the LGBTQ+ community, and I'm guessing politicians would rather care about gay people that people who have powers that they don't and that's how they ended up with their rights. Anyways, next topic: the PWP itself.

The PWP

The PWP, or Power Wielding People/Person(s), typically people use the second p to mean people but you can use it in a singular form like "I'm a PWP" or something, was organized by the help of the LGBTQ+ community. It's important to note that not everyone who has powers is gay and not everyone who's gay has powers. They simply support each other and root for each others communities whenever they reach a major milestone, like when the gays got their equal rights both communities went out to celebrate. It's also important to note that it doesn't matter if you use them for good or evil, if you have powers you are a part of the PWP. Anyways, history behind the people who started it.

It was the 90s. The LGBTQ+ community was gaining traction while also getting blamed for HIV/AIDS. In case you don't know what those are, uhhh I think you should ask the people in charge of you, or Google. Point is, Emily Rosha, who's notable powers were flying and fire, was recently released from prison do to an accidental fire due to her getting angry at a customer at the supermarket she worked at. Between her weekly anger management appointments, she talked with the people in charge of the gay community at the time about help setting up one for those that have powers, even recounting her own story. Currently going through their own hatred from society, they agree to help.

Fun fact: while you can get them as flags, the PWP actually uses capes. The more common an ability, like flying or laser vision, less likely there'll be a cape. So if flying is one of your powers, don't expect to find a cape for it anytime soon, but if it isn't, there's actually a cape for that because of how uncommon that trait is. They also have a PWP cape to show you're a part of the community, like with the LGBTQ+ community. But they typically make capes for the powers that aren't normally seen by a lot of the PWP. It's also rare for a PWP to have two conflicting powers, like one involving heat and one involving cold. It's to the point where it's unknown if there's any documented proof that one is capable of doing this and surviving, but research shows that you can't force a body to have powers. It... doesn't end well. Now let's try and end this on a positive note: the main characters.

The Main Characters

I'm going to start off by saying this: all of them are young adults. Yes it's only mentioned Lanai is a young adult, but everyone in this is basically in their 20s. So anytime you see scenes where they're kids or at least minors, that's a flashback and I will let you know if/when that happens.

Let's start off with everyone's favorite feline themed hero: Kitty Woman, aka Lanai (La-Nye is how I pronounce it but you do you) Hill. She does not, in fact, have any cat related powers, she just really likes cats and wanted that to be her theme. She'd actually get a cat if James wasn't allergic to them, making this technically the only way she can get a cat around him without his allergies acting up. In case you're wondering from the last chapter, right now as of typing this it's Fateful Beginnings part 1, she is very much gay. In fact, I'm pretty sure one could say she's at least demiromantic maybe since she's falling for her friend and stuff, but if that wrong please let me know so that I can change it. Either way, yes she is either bi, omni, or pan. You can look those up on your own time, this is getting pretty long.

Next up: Fox Lady, aka Amy Lopez. Like Lanai, she just really likes foxes, so she made it her theme. She actually originally met when they first fought, but I decided to change that to when they were young. Like not really young, but more of the start of high school or so. Sorry person that keeps asking for their backstory on how they met. Anyways, no she is not ok. I don't think anyone who's a main character in the story is.

Now onto the love interest: James Miller. He was actually that cute boy in school that all the girls, and in this case all of the guys, would fawn over and try to get him to date him. But  he did see any of that. He didn't think all of those people falling for him were leagues below him, he thought he was out of his league saying yes to any of them. So, he kept rejecting, until he met Lanai and Diane, and the most amazing thing happened. He wasn't treated like some trophy or prize to be one, although they still kept putting him on a pedestal when he shouldn't have been, he was treated like a human with thoughts and feelings, and that is how he had a hard time choosing.

I guess we're saving the best for last because now it's time for the best friend: Diane Johnson. Interesting to note: she has parents that are PWP, but she doesn't have powers. She was born powerless. It's not like she cares, but it doesn't help explain how one gets powers. She also has a lot based on me, like how she introduces herself to the new kid and is cheerful and extroverted. How she acts in her origin type chapter is more or less how I acted. Then again though, I always add a bit of myself to my characters. It makes me feel like no matter what if someone else were to try and be them, it wouldn't work or something. I don't know. Another interesting tidbit: despite how different their families are, especially now, Jessica and Diane are friends because their parents are. Diane's parents just don't know about the powerphobic things Jessica's been taught.

Anyways that should be everything. If there's anything you want to know about this world, just ask. I'll see you in the next chapter I write.

You've reached the end of published parts.
