Evie anxiously tightened her hold on Steve's hand as El howled in pain.
Mike frantically kneeled next to her as the others crowded around.

Robin let go of Evies' free hand and walked closer to the screaming girl.

"You know it's not actually that bad. The goalie on my soccer team, Beth Wildfire,
This other girl slid into her leg, and the bone came out of her knee, six inches or something. It was insane." Robin rambled as the other looked up towards her.

"Robin." Steve called as She looked towards the boy.

"You're not helping." He informed her.
"I'm sorry." Robin apologized and slowly walked back over to evie and leaned her head on her shoudler. Evie lifted her free hand and placed it comfortingly on Robin's shoulder.

Jonathan ran back towards the group carrying a knife that he had just sanitized under an open flame.

"This is gonna hurt like he'll, okay?" Jonathan spoke to the screaming girl as she nodded.

"Need you to stay still." He spoke as he placed gloves on his hands and handed El a spoon to bite on. He lifted up her pant leg.

Evie placed her head into Steve's shoudler, away from the gory sight that was about to take place.

Mike placed the spoon in El's mouth, and Jonathan pointed the knife on her calf.

"Do it." Mike spoke as he tightened his grip on El.

Jonathan grimaced as he slid the knife down the wound on her calf. The spoon blocked most of her wailing.

Evie squeezed her eyes shut against Steve's shoulder.

Jonathan finished slicing a line and then dropped the knife. He placed his pointer finger and middle inside her calf. El wailed in agony before forcing Jonathan to stop.

"I can do it." El grunted, pushing herself up. Evie picked her head up to watch as El used her power to grab the creature out of her leg. El screamed as the glass behind them smashed into a billion pieces.

Evie gasped as Steve pulled her and Robin away from the smashed glass.
El finally grabbed the creature and threw it out of her leg, and slid it along the floor.

The creature screeched until Cheif Jim hopper smashed it against his boot.

Evie looked up to see the chief and a woman as well as another man.

"How big is this thing?" The Cheif as the older Byers boy.
"It's big." He murmered.

Evie held her knees against her chest as she sat on the edge of a water fountain in the middle of the mall.

"It sorta destroyed your cabin. Sorry." Lucas informed the Cheif as he sighed.

"Okay, so, just to be clear, this big fleshy spider thing that hurt El, it's some kind of gigantic.....weapon?" Steve asked, looking around the room.

"Yes." Nancy nodded.

"But instead of, like, screws and metal, the mind flayer made its weapon with melted people?" Steve asked as Nancy nodded.

"Jesus christ." Evie mumbled, looking towards her scuffed shoes.

"Yeah, okay. I'm just making sure." Steve nodded and sat beside Evie, who leaned her head on his shoudler.

"Are we sure this thing is still out there, still alive?" Ms. Byers asked.

"El beat the shit out of it, but, yeah, it's still alive." Max grinned.

"But if we close the gate again-
We cut the brain off from the body." Will started, but Lucas finished.

"Yoo hoo." Murray waved papers in the air as everyone turned to him.

                        ~         ~        ~

"Okay, this is what Alexei called "the hub." Murray pointed on a map he hand placed on a table.

"Okay, where's the gate?" Hopper asked, looking over Murray's shoudler.

"Right here. I don't know the scale on this, but I think it's very close to the vault room, maybe 50 feet or so." He spoke, pointing around the map.

"More like 500." Erica informed me coming closer to Murray.

"What, you're just gonna waltz in there like it's commie Disneyland or something?" Erica spoke.

Hopper raised a brow as Evie giggled to herself. She stood behind Steve and watched from afar.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Murray asked, looking up from the map.

"Erica Sinclair. Who are you?" Erica aksed.

"Murray....Bauman." He nodded.
"Listen, Mr. Bumman, I'm not trying to tell you how to do things, but I've been down in that shit hole for 24 hours. And with all do respect, you do what this man tells you, you're all gonna die." Erica spoke, looking towards the others.

"I'm sorry, why is this four-year-old speaking to me?" Murray asked, raising his hand.

"Um, I'm ten, you bald bastard!" Erica spoke angrily.

"Erica." Lucas called her name.
"Just the facts." Erica whined.

"She's right. You're all gonna die, but you don't have to. Escuse me." Dustin walked forward to the map.

"Please." Murray smiled fakely.
Evie walked closer to Dustin.

Dustin sat at the chair and picked up a pencil. "Okay, see this room here? This is a storage facility. There's a hatch in here that feeds into their underground ventilation system. That will lead you to the base of the weapon. It's a bit of a maze down there, but between me and Erica we can show you the way." Eric's nodded along with Dustin.

Hopper looked between the two in disbelief. "You can show the way." He spoke with his eyebrow raised.

"Don't worry, you can do all the fighting and the dangerous hero shit. We'll just be your navigators." Dustin said, nodding.

"Nope." Hopper said. "Nope." He repeated shaking his head.

"Their great navigators, sir." Evie nodded as Dustin and Eric's looked up to Hopper.

He watched her for a moment before rolling his eyes and nodding his head before walking off.

Dustin grinned towards Evie and gave her a high five.

                      ~            ~           ~

"Oh, man, now this......this is what I'm talking about." Steve smiled joyously while throwing the Keys up in the air and catching them. He held open the door for Evie, who skipped out with Dustin, Erica, and Robin in tow.

"Toddfather"? Robin spoke while looking towards the car plate.

"Oh, screw Todd! Steve's her daddy now." Steve grinned and held the passenger sides door open for Evie, who jumped in and then ran over to the driver's side and sat in.

"Did you just talk about yourself in the third person?" Robin asked as she squeezed in the back next to Erica with Dustin on the other side.

"Did he just call himself daddy?" Erica asked, shrugging her shoulders between Robin and Dustin.

"Damn right." Evie grinned as the three in the back gave her disgusted looks. Steve blushed and started the car up.

"All right, where are we going?" Steve asked.

"Weathertop." Dustin responded.
"Weather-what?" Steve asked, confused.

"Just drive." Dustin responded.
"Okay. Jesus!" Steve said as he put the car in reverse.
