Ace had organized a really cool picnic for us, and here I sat beside him, stuffing my face with food.

The weather was perfect, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the trees overhead. It was one of those moments where everything felt right.

Ace leaned in closer, his warm hand finding mine under the picnic blanket. He gave my fingers a gentle squeeze, and I turned to look at him.

"I'm sorry, Alessa," he said softly, his eyes filled with sincerity. "I promise you, I would never—"

I interrupted him with a gentle smile. "Ace, I believe you."

"And I just wanted you to-" His eyes widened, and a glimmer of disbelief flickered across his face. "You do? You really believe me?"

"I do," I repeated, my voice steady. "I know you never would have given me to those people."

His eyes softened, and without a word, he reached out, his fingers lightly grazing my cheek, tracing a path along my jawline. I closed my eyes, savoring the touch, His hand slipped to the nape of my neck, drawing me closer.

It was a tender, reassuring kiss but as the seconds passed, he had deepened the kiss making me moan is his mouth. After a while of us making out, I pulled away, breathless, my lips slightly swollen.

"I love you, Alessa," he whispered. I froze.

"It's okay," He whispered, "You don't have to say it back yet, Alessa. I'll be waiting, forever if I have to."

"Thank you," I finally said, my voice barely above a whisper. "For everything."

He smiled, a warm, genuine smile that reached his eyes. "You don't have to thank me, Alessa. I'll always be here for you."

"Get off, Oh my god," I couldn't help but laugh as Ace's fingers danced across my sides, tickling me mercilessly. His laughter mixed with mine, It was a sound I had missed so much, a sound that now felt like a sweet melody.

"Okay, okay," I managed to gasp between fits of laughter. "You win!"

Ace stopped and grinned down at me, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "I always do."

I rolled my eyes, still breathless from laughing. "Cocky, aren't we?"

He leaned in, capturing my lips in a sweet, lingering kiss. "Only when it comes to you."

"Ewwwwww," I heard a voice say from behind, and I pulled away from Ace, trying to stifle a laugh.

Ace leaned closer, pressing his forehead against mine as he whispered to himself, "Fucking cockblock."

I chuckled softly, playfully smacking his hand. "Shut up."

Ace's lips curled into a playful pout, and he gave me those big, puppy-dog eyes of his, " Can we please-," He whined

I narrowed my eyes at him, my lips twitching with the effort not to smile. "Oh no, Ace Hernandez. Don't even think about it.

He continued to whine, pressing his forehead against mine. "But mi amore..."

I playfully pushed him away. "No, we are not doing that, you big baby."

"Fine," He pouted.

"Mama, is Dada sad?" Nico asked, and I shook my head, laughing. "No, baby. He's not. Your Dada is just a big drama queen."

Nico giggled, "Drama queen, Dada!" he chimed in, his laughter filling the air.

Ace rolled his eyes, an exaggeratedly offended expression on his face. "You guys are so mean to me."

I leaned over and kissed his cheek, my heart filled with warmth. "We love you, drama queen."

He grinned, and for a moment, everything felt perfect.

But who knew it wouldn't last long.
