The moon of a distant planet, Pandora being its name, held many wonders. Many of the wonders living up to their beauty...and some of its secrets being deadly.

However, there was one thing alive deep within the forests that only some of the the native Na'vi tribes knew of. A creature whose origins were shrouded in mystery and its presence was quite puzzling, to the point it was impossible for it to even exist. A creature that mixed the intelligence of a sentient being...and the ferocity of the forest's top apex predator.

For many natives, it was seen as a benevolent protector that guarded the forest from danger and threats. Others, however, saw this creature as a monster that preyed on unsuspecting small creatures and natives that came across its path. This creature, as many described, was a mix between a na'vi and a palulukan. Or thanator as the skypeople named the apex predator species.

And this one had a name.

Layontsin, or "Black Claw" in na'vi, is an anthropomorphic thanator. The only one of its kind. And this particular creature was female. She is a solitary being, spiritual and strong with her thanator instincts being the dominant traits. Like most creatures of Pandora, Layontsin was covered in a bioluminescent pattern that glows only at night. Extremely tall, she stands at 11 feet, and that's when not counting her armor plating crest and colorful quills that encircled the head. She is exceptionally powerful for her lean body despite that intensely muscular shape. As it can be seen, since she's a thanator, Layontsin has six limbs; four arms and two legs and has great agility and control over them. A dangerous beast to be sure. Like all thanators, she has two openings for breathing on each side of her neck. And much like the na'vi, she too has the ability to form tsaheylu, or bond, with other Pandoran creatures. Layontsin also has two queues that most Pandoran creatures have that would let a na'vi bond with, though she doesn't have need for them.

As many have seen, she is mostly aggressive to those that pose a threat to her and who annoy her if she is not in a good mood. Despite her fearsome demeanor she sometimes is pacifist to those she deems worthy, making her a respected creature among the tribes that know of her existence. Especially the Anurai clan, who pays great respect to the thanator species. This tribe has grown so much admiration to Layontsin as they have found her and raised her that they have begun to pay homage to her, to the point of giving her a traditional native outfit and a weapon that allows her great freedom of movement.

All of her life, the only thing that Layontsin knew was to roam the forest in search of her next meal as well as guarding the forest from enemies. Those enemies were na'vi tribes that would do harm to those that have taken her in and honored her, and especially the notorious skypeople that destroyed the land and consumed whatever they wanted. Of course, she had to be careful with them as they had weapons that were far deadlier than spears or bows and arrows. On top of that, they had massive earth and sky monsters that were impossible to take down on an ikran or any other beast. The only way that Layontsin could manage to take them out is if the skypeople were on their own, alone and in the dark when they were out on patrol. Foolish creatures, thinking that they were safe with only their regular weapons and didn't know how to see in the dark.

One day, however, instead of feeling like the rest of the days where she would go hunt, observe where the skypeople were moving next, or visit the Anurai clan regularly that welcomed her every time, she felt different. The feeling couldn't be described by her or by the na'vi that tried to help her. Even with their advice to visit the sacred tree of voices, to which Layontsin did take, all she got was nothing. Not even a word from the great mother, Eywa, who helped all in times of need. This disappointed her a bit, though she reassured herself that maybe this wasn't how it worked with things like strange feelings. So she decided to put that aside and continue on with her duty.

Moving along, Layontsin has continued to do what she did best in the forest that she called home. She hunted, attacked anyone or anything that wasn't familiar to her, and gained knowledge of the na'vi customs that the tribe eagerly taught her. However, now in each night, she noticed a star in the night sky each night get brighter and brighter. Some of the na'vi said that it was a sign that more skypeople were arriving, which meant more struggle for the natives and the creatures of the forest. She continued to watch the sky until the star faded for a moment. Some time later she saw the same star and noticed something separate while it crossed the night sky, orange and bright as it left a flaming trail behind it while crossing the dark night. This was the first time that she had seen a star do this and have such color, which impressed her a bit. But deep inside she knew what it truly meant.

So, strapping her spear on her back and climbing down from the tree she was perched on, Layontsin the anthro thanator headed out to continue her duty.
