Asim Angus was a super soldier. Plain and simple. No need to know who he was or where he came from.

From the moment he came into existence, Asim and some of his fellow comrades were special. One of many having been genetically enhanced for combat. Strength, speed, agility, situational awareness, durability, reaction timing, and even healing have been increased to cope with various situations that were thrown against him and the rest. Not even the most harsh conditions could stop them. The most interesting part is that even when still young, these soldiers outperformed even the most trained adults in the world. And those in charge kept them that way.

The super soldier program was almost unstoppable. Or so it seemed.

Time flew by like a blur, only the intense training sessions and the fierce battles Asim and his fellow super soldiers have participated in being one of the few memories from the start of his life. It's not like it felt bad or anything. Asim liked it. Especially with the team he formed with several others like him, young and talented. They outperformed the best of the best, to the point that they were even let into special missions of any kind all over the world.

All seemed to go well, until some problems started to arise.

Those problems involved the questioning of the morale that they had been taught since the beginning, to the point that some started being driven to the brink of insanity. This caused tensions amongst the superiors and those in charge of the program, to the point that each super soldier had to be isolated for observation. Asim and his fellow friends, Kentaro, Mikhail, Emeralda, and Shaka, didn't understand it. That was until they heard rumors among everyone that their lives were at risk. Even more, their freedom to choose was at risk, as those in charge of the program were planning to use mind control via a chemical to restrain them all. Permanently.

This was the moment that sparked the rebellion of the super soldiers.

Given that they weren't just strong, but smart and talented, Asim and his comrades orchestrated a plan to escape the facility and scatter all around the ever-changing world. The plan succeeded, with the majority of young soldiers managing to escape. Some weren't so lucky, but Asim and his team made it their mission to help those that had time in their hands be free before the worst happened. From there on, time flew again like a blur. Now he and the rest of his kind had to hide in the shadows of cities and nations, evading any type of security that would most likely be connected to the organization that created them. But the more they hid, the more complicated things got. At one time, even when things were dire, he remembered the time that he found a small girl that didn't have any parents. Asim didn't know what led him to adopt her as a sister, but he felt like something tugging in his chest that said to him that this small child would be worth it.

And it was.

The small orphan girl, which some of his teammates chose to name her Lily, made Asim's life somewhat easy despite the dire situation they were in. Though he and his friends knew that these happy moments wouldn't last long. The entire planet Earth has been over-consumed from its resources, meaning that food and luxury of living couldn't be afforded so they could live peacefully and safely. They had to find another way to survive. Luckily there was the RDA program that offered positions so that those selected could go to Pandora, a new world where everyone could go and have a fresh start. First they had to take several tests, like combat training, literacy testing, resistance testing, and familiarization of the place they were going to since it was an alien planet filed with new life. There was some point where they had to take a simple yet difficult test about the language that belonged to the natives of the planet, but despite it's difficulty everyone passed. It was an opportunity that couldn't be missed, and Asim, along with his team and those that were part of the secret group, took advantage.

An advantage that exposed them.

The organization that created them were still on the hunt for the young runaway super soldiers, and they weren't going to let them get away easily. After passing all the tests given that they had superior training, it easily gave them away to the point that some questioned their identities. Asim and the others soon found out that they were being hunted again, so they hurried up to where they would launch up into space. They managed to get in just in time before security could catch up to them, but one member of another team that accompanied the group of Asim decided to stay and delay those that chased them. It was painful to watch, knowing that they may never see them again. Yet at the same time it gave them relief that all of them had managed to board the ship in time before blasting off into outer space. There, they docked into the main ship and moved to the center with everyone on board to go into hyper-sleep.

Finally, they were on their way to a new world, where they could be free from the dying homeworld.

Or so they thought.

When they awoke from hyper-sleep, they came to realize that those sent from the organization have managed to get on the ship, and were planning to use the mind-control chemical on them. Knowing this, they decided to split up once on Hell's Gate, the base on Pandora, and let one of them be given up by willingness. Asim, the leader of the team, was the one to offer himself up, yet he and his team planned to work together and find a way to reunite once one of them developed a countermeasure against the chemical.

When the time came, it came just when chaos was about to begin.

When they caught Asim and the chemical was injected in him, everything felt cold. Literally and metaphorically. He could still breathe, think, and act, but the chemical forced him to obey every single order that the superiors at Hell's Gate gave him. Every last order with no exception. Including the time when some of the members of the Avatar program, Jake Sully being the main leader, sparked a rebellion which led to the na'vi insurgency after the destruction of their home tree. With the na'vi planning to attack the base within days, every personnel that was designated for combat was ordered to sortie for a preemptive attack on the Tree of Souls. A place sacred for the natives and that would be a sheer blow to their beliefs of their deity protecting them.

Asim knew it was wrong, he felt it to his very core. During his time outside of the base, he felt some sort of connection to the natural beauty of the forest. Something that felt familiar to him even if he didn't remember something. But because of the chemical that forced him to follow orders, he had no choice but to do as commanded. At least he knew in the back of his mind that his adoptive sister, and his team of close friends, were already safe from the clutches of the superiors as they continued undercover.

Hours later after the start of the preemptive mission, everyone, including Asim who was in the air aboard a helicopter, began their approach. No one knew the surprise attack that would follow as the na'vi began to attack them from above the floating mountains. Even amongst the chaos, Asim did his best to defend the helicopter that he was in from incoming attacks and at the same dodging the smaller attacks from the natives in their flying beasts.

However, it wasn't enough.

One arrow managed to get to Asim, piercing him right in the stomach. Before the one that accompanied him in the chopper could reach for him, he fell from the craft and down to the forest, away from the aerial battle. Time seemed to slow down as memories of his life flashed across his very eyes, some vivid and some unclear as he neared the ground and then landed in a way that no human could ever survive. Asim crashed into some tree branches and landed on his back, feeling how his bones were all broken and immense pain flaring. Seeing through his respirator mask, the last thing he saw was the ensuing battle and the distant noises of the forest before his vision darkened and faded away.

What he didn't knew was that once his life ended, another life was about to begin.

One that the planet has planned for this particular human for the future.
